Amazing ビデオ shows 黒人／ボイコット waiter in 1960s Mississippi explaining the 苦痛 of working in white-only restaurant... as his decedents ask whether the （映画の）フィート数 led to his 殺人

It was the 高さ of racial 緊張 during the Civil 権利s 時代 when a 文書の 製造者 trained his camera on Booker Wright, a white-ふさわしい waiter at a white-only restaurant in Mississippi.

The 新聞記者／雑誌記者 had only hoped to 逮捕（する） a piece of the South in the spring of 1966, a grown man who was 雇うd to sing the menu to 豊富な diners. However, when Mr Wright finished his 業績／成果 of the day's specials, he looked into the camera and 開始する，打ち上げるd into a heartbreaking monologue of what it meant to be a 黒人／ボイコット man working in a segregated restaurant.

'Some people are nice. Some is not. Some call me Booker, some call me John, some call me Jim. Some call me n*****. All that 傷つけるs, but you have to smile,' he says.?

'The meaner the man be, the more you smile, although you're crying on the inside. Although you're wondering what else can I do? いつかs he'll tip you, いつかs he'll say, "I'm not going to 最高の，を越す the n*****, don't look for no tip."'

Mr Wright's cameo in Frank DeFellita's NBC 文書の, 'Mississippi: A Self-Portrait,' was just two minutes, but it cost him dearly.

By 明らかにする／漏らすing that he was not just a mindless servant and was in fact a man who had feelings and ambitions, he became a 的. He was 残酷に beaten, the restaurant he owned on the 黒人／ボイコット 味方する of town was firebombed and seven years later, he was 殺人d.

Four and a half １０年間s later, Mr DeFellita's son and Mr Wright's granddaughter have come together to find answers about that fateful scene -- why Mr Wright stuck his neck out and whether it really did lead to his 殺人，大当り.

Yvett Johnson and Ray DeFellita each began searching for Mr Wright 分かれて.

Ms Johnson, Mr Wright's granddaughter, grew up in a 豊富な gated community in San Diego, California -- far from the 人種差別主義 and poverty that haunted her grandfather. She started her 旅行 when she had children of her own and began digging up her family's history, looking for her roots.

Mr DeFellita remembers watching his father's 文書の about Mississippi as a child. Even then, it stuck with him -- 大部分は because of Mr Wright's heartbreaking monologue. He became 利益／興味d in 跡をつけるing 負かす／撃墜する Mr Wright's family to find out what had become of him after his father's 文書の 空気／公表するd.

They met when Mr DeFellita 地位，任命するd the （映画の）フィート数 of Mr Wright on the Internet and Ms Johnson reached out to him.

Together, they produced a 文書の of their own in 2011, 'Booker's Place: A Mississippi Story.' It debuted at New York's famous TriBeCa Film Festival this year.

Mr Wright's 外見 on the NBC 文書の was a 勇敢な, even selfless, 行為／法令／行動する at the time. Frank DeFellita, who had been 警告するd about Civil 権利s 暴力／激しさ before traveling to Mississippi, knew that if he 空気／公表するd the interview, it would put Mr Wright in danger and かもしれない get him killed.

'I had a talk with Booker and said "Do you really want to do this?" This is going to 空気／公表する all over the South a nd they're going to watch you, in a sense, ridicule them as 存在 fools,' Frank DeFellita, now 90, told his son for the 文書の.

His 返答: 'The time has come, I've got to talk the way I feel.'

The 1965 interview with Mr Wright is both 冷気／寒がらせるing and uplifting.

He recounts painful interactions with 人種差別主義者 顧客s who seem him as a 黒人／ボイコット servant, rather than a fellow man.

'Don't talk to him like that, that's a good n*****, that's my n*****,' he imitates one 顧客 as 説.

'Yes sir, boss. I'm your n*****,' is his 返答.

'I'm trying to make a living. Why? I've got three children. I want them to get an education. I wasn't fortunate enough to 'get an education, but I want them to get it. And they're doing good,' he explains.

'That's what I'm struggling for. I don't want this and I don't want that. But I just don't want my children to have to go through what I go through here.'

結局, he opened a small restaurant of his own -- a 集会 place for the 黒人／ボイコット community that was visited by the likes of blues legend BB King.

Seven years after the film 空気／公表するd, a 黒人／ボイコット diner walked into Mr Wright's cafe and 発射 him dead.

Ms Johnson is 納得させるd the 殺し屋 was paid by someone in the white community as payback for speaking out.
