A drunk driver has been 刑務所，拘置所d after 粉々にするing a gold メダル-winning Paralympian's 2012 dream when he ran him over in a 引き逃げの 事故.

支持する／優勝者 cyclist Simon Richardson MBE was on an 早期に-morning training 開会／開廷／会期 for the London games 近づく his home in Bridgend, south むちの跡s, when he was knocked over by Edward Adams, who was more than twice the drink-運動 限界.

The 61-year-old 農業者 急ぐd 支援する home to hide his 乗り物 before 注ぐing himself a glass of whisky - in a 企て，努力，提案 to try to disguise the fact he had been drinking before the 衝突／不一致, Cardiff 栄冠を与える 法廷，裁判所 was told.

Mr Richardson was left with a 目録 of 傷害s 含むd a fractured spine, broken pelvis, 崩壊（する）d 肺 and perforated bowel, 軍隊ing him to abandon his London 2012 dream.

裁判官 Daniel Williams said Adams had shown 限られた／立憲的な empathy for his 犠牲者 - and 非，不，無 of the courage and dignity 陳列する，発揮するd by Mr Richardson.

He said: 'You first got into the car at 8.45am that morning and when you were breathalysed just after midday you were more than twice the 合法的な drink 運動 限界.

'Mr Richardson was 明確に 明白な - cycling の近くに to the kerb and wearing 有望な 着せる／賦与するing.

'Your （人命などを）奪う，主張するs that you were 影響する／感情d by sneezing and sunlight were wholly untrue.

'Your reaction to the 事故 and its 影響 could not be in greater contrast with the man that you had left 負傷させるd.

'You took the 適切な時期 to leave the scene - knowing you had 原因（となる）d the 事故.'

Mr Richardson, 44, who won two gold メダルs and a silver in 2008, was training for the London Games on the A48 on a road known 地元で as 割れ目 Hill in August last year.

Cardiff 栄冠を与える 法廷，裁判所 heard he was thrown 26 metres into the 空気／公表する after Adams’ 先頭 攻撃する，衝突する him from behind.

He stopped 簡潔に, but drove off after he noticed another 運転者 had stopped to 申し込む／申し出 him 援助.

Adams, when interviewed by police, said he had been drinking the night before and had drunk his first whisky at 6am when he woke up.

The 法廷，裁判所 heard even with his 運動ing glasses on Adams could not read a number plate from four metres away - and could only 部分的に／不公平に read one from two metres.

He 認める drink-運動ing and failing to stop, but 否定するd a 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金 of dangerous 運動ing.

Adams was given a 15 month 刑務所，拘置所 宣告，判決 for dangerous 運動ing, and an extra three months 刑務所，拘置所 for failing to stop.

A three month 宣告，判決 for 運動ing with 超過 alcohol will run 同時に.

Adams will also be disqualified from 運動ing for five years.

The father-of-two said: 'I still have another 操作／手術 to go through, which if it is 不成功の could leave me 永久的に paralysed.

'It’s also been difficult to 行方不明になる out on taking part in the London Paralympics.

'But I am a strong person, and 計画（する） to keep on fighting. As for the 法廷，裁判所’s 判決, I am happy in a way with the 宣告，判決.

'I would have been happy whatever 宣告，判決 he got - even if he walked 解放する／自由な.

'At the end of the day, it was just an 事故 and he did not deliberately 始める，決める out to knock me 負かす／撃墜する.

'But it is important that a precedent has been 始める，決める - that not only should a person be 告発（する），告訴（する）／料金d with 超過 alcohol but it also qualifies as dangerous 運動ing.

'I hope this 出来事/事件 shows the need for drivers to be more aware of cyclists on the road.'

Mr Richardson, of Porthcawl, was made an MBE after winning two golds and one silver メダル at Beijing in 2008.

He 苦しむd life-脅すing 傷害s and his family were at his 病人の枕元 for two weeks at the University Hospital of むちの跡s in Cardiff.

Mr Richardson 明らかにする／漏らすd that he was unconscious for 15 days, waking up in hospital and not recognising his family or friends.

He said: 'For 25 days my life was in the balance - it was touch and go whether I 生き残るd.

'Every night when my wife left hospital she was told that I could be dead by the に引き続いて morning.'

He said: 'I’ve 回復するd before and I know I can do it again.

'Watching the Paralympics will be a mixed feeling - I want to be there, I should be there.

'I will be watching on TV but I 港／避難所’t got tickets.'

Mr Richardson was 伴う／関わるd in a car 事故 in 2001 which left him with serious 脚 and 支援する 傷害s and no feeling 負かす／撃墜する his left 手渡す 味方する.

事前の to his 事故 Mr Richardson was a keen cyclist, but he stopped cycling until 2005 when his doctors advised him to start training again to help his rehabilitation.

His cycle is 力／強力にするd only by his 権利 脚, riding an adapted bike.
