議論の的になる sitcom does not stereotype イスラム教徒s says show's creator as more than 700 people complain
The creator of the BBC’s 議論の的になる new comedy series 国民 旅宿泊所 主張するd yesterday that it does not stereotype イスラム教徒s.
Writer Adil Ray, who also takes the lead 役割, said it is 簡単に a British family sitcom.
More than 700 people have complained to the BBC and 20 people have made 代表s to Ofcom, 誘発するing the regulator to consider 開始する，打ち上げるing an 調査 into whether the broadcasting code has been broken.

But Ray, a British イスラム教徒, told BBC 無線で通信する Five Live: ‘国民 旅宿泊所 is not a イスラム教徒 comedy, it is a British family sitcom. It is family comedy with 全世界の／万国共通の 主題s of hypocrisy, deceit, and 関係s that we can all connect to.’

He said Britain’s イスラム教徒 community was? 変化させるd. ‘We are not all the same. This is something I want to get away from. British イスラム教徒s are all very different people.
‘It is a 広大な／多数の／重要な 適切な時期 for イスラム教徒s to be seen as like everybody else. To say, “Look we have the same human 欠陥s as everyone else but we just have a different 宗教”.’
The first of the series had an audience of 3.6million on Monday. One criticised scene showed a ひどく made-up daughter of Mr 旅宿泊所 quickly put on a hijab and pretend to be reading the Koran when he entered.
Mr Ray said the joke was not about the Koran but about the daughter’s behaviour ? her deceit, her 欠陥s and her father’s.
He said it was ‘only natural’ for some テレビ視聴者s to feel ‘極度の慎重さを要する’ as there have been few ‘fictional depictions’ of イスラム教徒 life on British TV.
