Last year she was あられ／賞賛するd as one of the most 影響力のある people in the world - a defender of women's 権利s as Afghanistan's only 女性（の） 長，率いる 検察官，検事.

Ms Bashir has been 称讃するd by both Michelle Obama and Hilary Clinton - and she was one of ten women to receive a 'Women of Courage' Award in Washington last year.

But Maria Bashir's 評判 is now in 疑問 after the Times 明らかにする／漏らすd that Ms Bashir is also the most prolific 検察官，検事 of women for Afghanistan's いわゆる 'moral' 罪，犯罪s, such as 姦通.

While Ms Bashir （選挙などの）運動をするs against 乱用 husbands, more than half of the 172 women 刑務所，拘置所d in Afghanistan for sex outside of marriage (known as 'zina') have come from her 州.

The Herat 州's 全住民 stands at an 概算の 1.7million, and Afghanistan as a whole has a 全住民 of 35million.

Last week Ms Bashir, who became lead 検察官，検事 in 2006, and has 起訴するd nearly a thord of the 78 women 刑務所，拘置所d for 殺人 in Afghanistan, was 促進するd to become Herat's 弁護士／代理人／検事-general.

The Times said 外交官s are 'shocked' by the 驚くべき／特命の／臨時の 一致する of women 拘留するd for 姦通.

When she received her award, the two 大統領の wives said: 'Ms Bashir has 行うd a 決定するd （選挙などの）運動をする against 罪，犯罪 and 汚職.

'She stands out as a 支持する／優勝者 of judicial transparency and women's 権利s, and exemplifies the resilience of Afghan women.'

When the Times 接触するd Ms Bashir, she said she was unaware that her 起訴 率 was so much higer than other 州s, but 非難するd it on her 州's closeness to the 国境 with Iran.

She said: 'If it is higher it's because we are 国境d with Iran, which culturally 影響（力）s Afghans.'
