The house where 禁止（する）d 援助（する） was born... but do they know it's now 価値（がある） £6million?

In Harmony: The Six-bedroom Zachary House, 位置を示すd on the Thames in Chiswick, West London, has gone on the market for £6.25million

Alan, 73, and his second wife Bev, 58, have bought a place in Marrakech in Morocco and ーするつもりである to 分裂（する） their time between there and a smaller place they will buy in London.

Like its owner, Zachary House, which has six bedrooms and is on the market for £6.25?million, has impressive music 信任状. In the Eighties and 早期に Nineties, it was owned by Midge Ure, of Ultravox. He wrote the 禁止（する）d 援助（する） 攻撃する，衝突する Do They Know It’s Christmas? in the lounge, along with （頭が）ひょいと動く Geldof, and 記録，記録的な／記録するd the 支援 跡をつける for it in the 地階 studio. The house also appeared in the 1964 Beatles’ film, A Hard Day’s Night.

When Alan bought it in 1995, the Grade II 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる）d building was in poor 形態／調整. He has spent millions on it. Although he knows enough about DIY to build a house from scratch, 予定 to the 規模 and 複雑さ of the 事業／計画（する）, he 雇うd specialist craftsmen for most of the work.

His first home, bought in 1962 for £2,000, was a rundown cottage in West London’s Brook Green that had been （ーのために）とっておくd for demolition. ‘I didn’t know a thing about DIY then,’ says Alan, ‘but I learnt to do all the work from 調書をとる／予約するs ? knocking out fireplaces, fitting boilers, laying 床に打ち倒すs ? and my first wife Mavis, who was The Beatles’ 圧力（をかける） officer, did all the wiring with help from a 調書をとる／予約する she’d bought at Woolworths. It was passed by the London Electricity Board!’

They sold the cottage four years later for £10,000, and repeated the 過程 again and again, each time staying just two or three years and each time making enough to buy somewhere bigger. Alan sold a house in Hampstead to Jamie Oliver in the 中央の-Nineties with the chef 支払う／賃金ing £25,000 over the asking price.

But Alan’s 動機づけ wasn’t to make money: ‘I was never a 相場師, I always liked to live in a house. I think it’s a reaction to the tight space I was brought up in, in Birkenhead.’

There’s certainly no 不足 of space at Zachary House, which covers 8,500sq?ft. It has three 歓迎会 rooms, a library, two 熟考する／考慮するs, a cinema, a 記録，記録的な／記録するing studio, two kitchens, a laundry room, pantry, 温室, garden room, two garages, a 温室 and twin balconies with magnificent 見解（をとる）s of the river. The house is light, 有望な and immaculately decorated. It’s also incredibly 私的な. ‘It’s a wonderful place to live,’ says Bev.

It’s a far cry from Alan’s roots ? he is the son of a signwriter and a soap packer at the Port Sunlight factory in Merseyside. As a schoolboy, Alan’s passion was 令状ing. He sold stories to 地元の papers and at 16 was 雇うd by the Birkenhead News, where he covered 法廷，裁判所s, 会議 会合s and garden 祝日，祝うs by day and by night went to the Cavern Club and sent reviews and interviews of up-and-comin g 禁止（する）d to Melody 製造者 and NME.

‘I would stand next to the 入り口 to the dressing room and 権利 in 前線 of me were The Beatles playing to fans,’ says Alan, who was soon 申し込む／申し出d a 職業 at NME. ‘When Paul McCartney heard I was going there, he said, “Put in a word and get us a 記録，記録的な／記録するing 契約”.?’ The 残り／休憩（する） is history.
