Tens of thousands of U.S. college students are flocking to the Mexican city of Cancun this years rather than travel to other popular tourist hotspots, which have been みなすd too dangerous.

City 公式の／役人s said Friday that they 推定する／予想するd thousands more 訪問者s than the 25,000 who （機の）カム to the Caribbean coast 訴える手段／行楽地 last year.

Cancun 観光旅行，事業 director Maximo Ga rcia Rocha said some major tourist 機関s were 推定する／予想するing as many as 43,000 spring breakers, but the major influx was only beginning Friday.

The Cancun Hotel 協会 said occupancy was at 90 per cent citywide.

With vacationers arriving 一団となって／一緒に in Cancun, 地元の 公式の／役人s have stepped up patrols of 海洋s, 兵士s and special tourist police in zones packed with hotels and 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業s.

Brad Madani, a 24-year-old from Toronto, said he had come to Cancun for the second time and was drawn by the beaches, discos and bikini contests.

While many Canadians think Mexico is dangerous, Madani said, he felt 安全な in Cancun, 特に with the 激しい presence of 海洋s.

Chances are that if you don't choose a 静かな one, you'll just be up for 7 days straight. And that may not be a bad thing for some of you.'

'Last year Cancun welcomed almost 4 million 訪問者s, and while 非，不，無 of our tourists were 犠牲者s of violent 罪，犯罪s, we understand that safety is always a 関心 when traveling to a foreign country,' he told the LA Times.
