Six different 国籍s are 代表するd on this year’s Man Booker Prize shortlist, 述べるd as ‘most striking for its 全世界の 範囲’.

The other is Jhumpa Lahiri, 46, shortlisted for her novel The Lowland.

Born in London and of Indian origin, she was raised in Rhode Island and now lives in New York.

The longlist was 著名な for its obscurity, after mostly unknown authors made the 指名/任命s and a number of big-指名する authors were overlooked, 含むing JM Coetzee, Roddy Doyle and Margaret Atwood.

The other three 指名された人s are 58-year-old Irish 小説家 Colm Toibin, for his novel The Testament of Mary, 31-year-old NoViolet Bulawayo, from Zimbabwe, for We Need New 指名するs, and New Zealander Eleanor Catton, for her novel The Luminaries.

At 28, she would be the youngest-ever 受取人 of the prize.
