'The devil has got to her': µï½»¡Ê¼Ô¡Ës of Miley Cyrus' ÊݼéŪ¤Ê hometown ²òǤ¤¹¤ë ´Å¤¤-as-can-be cheerleader who they believe has been corrupted by fame

Miley Cyrus has been branded the ¡Ædevil¡Ç and ¡Ædisgusting¡Ç in the small bible-belt American town she grew up in.

The 20-year-old former Disney À±¡¿¼çÌò¤Ë¤¹¤ë has never been more popular, topping the charts all over the world.

However when MailOnline visited her hometown of Franklin, Tennessee, this week the mood was far from celebratory. Not proud: Residents in Miley Cyrus' hometown of Franklin, Tennessee believe the young star has lost her Christian roots. Above, the star before she was famous at a cheerleadering competition with childhood pals Madi (middle) and Tori (right)

In fact most are shocked by her antics with one fellow parishioner at Miley¡Çs family church going as far to say she ¶²¤ì¤ës she¡Çs been ½êÍ¤¹¤ëd by the devil.

Judy Reynolds, 64, a volunteer Ĺ´± at Franklin's People¡Çs Church told MailOnline: 'It appears that way, that the devil has got to her. Her ³èÆ°¡¿ÀïÆ®s on ¹Ô¤¦¡¿³«ºÅ¤¹¤ë¡¿Ãʳ¬ show me that she's lost her way.

'It's sad, very sad because she's ÌÀ¤é¤«¤Ë bought the message of the world... sex and ËãÌôs and that's the wrong message. She's not ¤Ë°ú¤Â³¤¤¤Æ a life that is ¸ºß directed by God, she is not Áܤ·½Ð¤¹ing God in her life. The bible tells us that it is very ¡Êµ¿¤¤¤ò¡ËÀ²¤é¤¹ the devil is here to Áܤ·½Ð¤¹ and destroy.

'ËãÌôs destroy people. Anything in your life, be it À¤Î immorality or ËãÌôs that are not good for you¡Ä it can be the way of the devil.

'People are worried and we are praying for her.'

Judy has been ¡Ä¤Ë½ÐÀʤ¹¤ëing the evangelical Southern Baptist People's Church for more than 30 years and is a pal of the ËÒ»Õ Rick White who baptized Miley there in 2005 when she was Ϸǯ¤Î 13.?

Grandmother-of-four Judy remembers Miley as a ´Å¤¤ young girl who ¡Ä¤Ë½ÐÀʤ¹¤ëd children¡Çs ¡Ê·³¤Î¡ËÌî±ÄÃÏ¡¤¿Ø±Äs at the church.

She said: 'Miley is ÌÀ³Î¤Ë giving the wrong message ¸¢Íø now. One of the ladies in my Sunday school class taught Miley in church ¡Ê·³¤Î¡ËÌî±ÄÃÏ¡¤¿Ø±Ä when she was elementary school age and she said to me "we need to pray for her". We¡Çre just sad because we would not want our own kids to do some of the things she has done.'

Aghast: Judy Reynolds, a volunteer secretary at the church where Miley was baptized, says she was horrified when she saw clips of the star's VMA performance with Robin Thicke

Asked what had been most ÉÔ²÷¤Ê¡¿¹¶·â to the parishioners, Judy Æõ¤¹¤ë¡¿°úÍѤ¹¤ëd Miley¡Çs X-Ψd twerking and Ë¢¡¤·ãÅܤ¹¤ë¤³¤È-finger dance with ¥³¥Þ¥É¥ê ¸ü¤¤ at the VMA Awards in August.

She said: 'Her ³°¸« on the award show (the VMAs), I didn't see it I just saw it on the news afterwards. My reaction was horror, if it was my own children or grandchildren I would be mortified and I'm sure her parents are experiencing some of the same at the moment.

'It was the dress, the ¶ÈÀÓ¡¿À®²Ì all of the above. She¡Çs not listening to the Lord ? that¡Çs pretty ÌÀ¤é¤«¤Ê and it¡Çs sad to see her not portraying the values she ¡Êµ¡¤Î¡Ë¥«¥à from.

'My little granddaughter liked Hannah Montana when she was small, then when she started turning her parents were like "oh dear, we do not need her as a Ìò³ä model anymore".

'She has a good ȯ¸À¤¹¤ë¡¿É½ÌÀ¤¹¤ë, it's just disappointing because there's so many other ways.'

¤Ë¤â¤«¤«¤ï¤é¤º Judy's ¶²¤ì¤ës, Miley still ¡Ê¿ÍÌ¿¤Ê¤É¤ò¡ËÃ¥¤¦¡¤¼çÄ¥¤¹¤ës God is an important ±Æ¶Á¡ÊÎÏ¡Ë in her life.

In a new in terview with Cosmopolitan this week, Miley told how 'this is the best time of my life', Äɲ乤ëing God helped her get over her break-up with fiance Liam Hemsworth.

She said: 'I'm not going to look »Ù±ç¤¹¤ë on it and be like, "I wish I hadn't been dwelling over a Êø²õ¡¿Ê¬Îö," you know? Because that's not what God wants my life to be about ¸¢Íø now. God wants my life to be about ¸ºß successful and ¸ºß happy and blessing other people ¸ºß blessed.'

However at Miley's church they are finding it difficult to ǧ¤á¤ë the angelic choirgirl that once ¡Ä¤Ë½ÐÀʤ¹¤ëd there.

Another ǯÇڤΠlady who ¡Ä¤Ë½ÐÀʤ¹¤ës the church, but µñÀ䤹¤ë¡¿Äã²¼¤¹¤ëd to be »Ø̾¤¹¤ëd, said: 'I¡Çve gone to church here for 32 years, she was here in Sunday school just a little before she was in Disney, she was just a little one running around, she sang in the children¡Çs choir. We have her in our µ§¤ê ̾Êí¡Ê¤ËºÜ¤»¤ë¡Ë¡¿É½¡Ê¤Ë¤¢¤²¤ë¡Ë at the moment.'

ËÒ»Õ White µñÀ䤹¤ë¡¿Äã²¼¤¹¤ëd to be interviewed when asked by MailOnline.

Although Miley and her family mostly live in LA now, Billy Ray still owns the ÊúÍʤ¹¤ë 500-acre farm in Franklin and the family spend time there when they can. She said: 'When she was younger my grandchild would watch her TV show (Hannah Montana) and I thought she was really ºï¸º¡Ê¤¹¤ë¡Ë, now I think everybody living here is Æù¿Æ¡¤¿ÆÎàd of disgusted by her. She's not someone I would want my grandchildren to idolize anymore. She has fallen in the ÃíÌܤ¹¤ë¡¤¤â¤¯¤í¤às of people °ìÏ¢¤Î²ñµÄ¡¢¸ò¾Ä¡¿´°À®¤¹¤ë here. She just seems to be not real grounded.'

Miley¡Çs pre-school teacher Kim Cotton agreed that the À±¡¿¼çÌò¤Ë¤¹¤ë¡Çs values are now Á´¤¯ out of sync with sleepy Franklin, which has a Á´½»Ì± of 66,000.

Kim, 49, who taught Miley at Fourth Avenue Church of Christ pre-school in Franklin »Ù±ç¤¹¤ë in 1996, said: 'Franklin has a southern Christian atmosphere, you know ÊݼéŪ¤Ê with white picket ÅðÉʸÎÇã¼Ôs and all that.

'¤ä¤á¤ë Ψľ¤Ë when Miley decided to get on that ÆñÇˤµ¤»¤ëing ball I don¡Çt think she was going "oh I shouldn¡Çt do that because it¡Çs going to ½ý¤Ä¤±¤ë Franklin, Tennessee". I think that was probably the furthest from her mind.'

²òǤ¤¹¤ëing the three-year-old Miley, Kim, whose daughter Kelsey was later on the same cheerleading team as the À±¡¿¼çÌò¤Ë¤¹¤ë, said: 'She was ´Å¤¤ as can be, smiled all the time, in fact I think that¡Çs how she got her »Ø̾¤¹¤ë, they started calling her that, "Smiley Miley". She was very µî¤Ã¤Æ¤¤¤¯¡¿¼Ò¸òŪ¤Ê and just a good girl.'

Asked about Miley¡Çs ¸½ºß¤Î ¹Ô°Ù, Kim said: 'You just don¡Çt know how people °·¤¦ things. I¡Çm ´Ø¿´d and hope that she doesn¡Çt wander off the beaten path but I think she will find her way ·ë¶É, she¡Çs just ¼Â¸³ing with some things.

¡Ê·ã¤·¤¤¡Ëȿȯ: Kim says Miley probably didn't think of the ¾×·â her risque music ¥Ó¥Ç¥ª would have on the µï½»¡Ê¼Ô¡Ës of her hometown

'I think at this point she¡Çs just trying to find herself, she¡Çs a young adult. She¡Çs got so many things surrounding her that a lot of young girls her age don¡Çt have to ¤ò¼è¤ê°ú¤¤¹¤ë.

'She¡Çs making her own way and it can¡Çt be Ê¿°×¤Ê, it¡Çs gotta be hard.

'It¡Çs (her ÏÀÁè) really bumped her so you can¡Çt fault her for that I suppose.

'Really I would consider them (the Cyrus family) more as Californian¡Çs now, I mean they moved to California when she was doing Hannah Montana.'

Lydia Norman, 55, who also worked at Fourth Avenue when Miley ¡Ä¤Ë½ÐÀʤ¹¤ëd, was ¤¤¤Ã¤½¤¦¾¯¤Ê¤¯ generous about their former pupil, she said: 'The mainstream values of most of the people in Franklin are different from what you see about her ¸¢Íø now in the news.

'It's much more ÊݼéŪ¤Ê here, Christian churchgoers, strong family values¡Ä a lot of people move here to raise their children to Êݸ¤ë them from things they don't want their families exposed to.

'I think she¡Çs left us far behind. But I think all young people have to find their own way.

'I'm very thankful my daughter does not have the same value as she does.

'They are not the values I would want my daughter to have, but that's her choice.'

Asked what her advice to Miley would be now, Lydia Äɲ乤ëd: 'One thing I say to my kids is remember who you are and where you come f rom. If you were raised on good values and your Ìó« then remember that and come »Ù±ç¤¹¤ë to it to go É餫¤¹¡¿·âÄƤ¹¤ë the ¸¢Íø path.'

And it's not just the older people in town who are angry at Miley.

Charity Henry, 24, who ºîÉÊ in a Ãϸµ¤Î Starbucks, was Ê¿Åù¤Ë indignant.

She said: 'My husband has little sisters who watched her show and it was a healthy life-giving show that had good morals.

'She had a lot of young people looking up to her but now she¡Çs gone off the ¿¼¤¤ end. She¡Çs loose with her values and I think it¡Çs mostly sad for her and È¿±Ç¤¹¤ës ÉÔÀµ¤Ë on her. Miley Childhood Pal Defends À±¡¿¼çÌò¤Ë¤¹¤ë

While sleepy Franklin appears to have turned against its former golden girl ? Miley's childhood cheerleading pal spoke out to defend her.

'I think she¡Çs in »ÙÇۡʤ¹¤ë¡Ë¡¿ÅýÀ©¤¹¤ë and she¡Çs pretty smart.'

Miley never drank, smoked or took ËãÌôs when Madi knew her and she ÈóÆñ¤¹¤ës the Ķ²ás of stardom for her friend¡Çs ºÇ¶á¤Î change in ¹Ô°Ù.

She said: 'No I never knew her to do that, not at all. But she¡Çs in LA and LA is ridiculous for that Æù¿Æ¡¤¿ÆÎàd of stuff. A lot of famous people do that

'But the Æù¿Æ¡¤¿ÆÎàd of stuff she¡Çs doing is what any normal 20-year-old does, the older people don¡Çt realize how many young people do ecstasy or smoke ¾¯¤·¤Îd, even if you don¡Çt do it yourself you know someone who does.'

MILEY'S HOMETOWN IS MOST CONSERVATIVE PLACE IN AMERICA

Åêɼ¡Ê¤¹¤ë¡Ëd the number one 'ÊݼéŪ¤Ê friendly' place in America, Miley Cyrus's home ·´ is a world away from the ËãÌôs and sex she is ¸½ºß¡¿°ìÈÌ¤Ë singing about.

Instead Williamson ·´ Tennessee is home to ¹Âç¤Ê horse farms, guitar-·ÁÂÖ¡¿Ä´À°d swimming pools and ÆÀÅÀ¤¹¤ë¡¿ÈóÆñ¤¹¤ë¡¿£²£°s of evangelical churches.

Just 20 miles outside music ¥á¥Ã¥« Nashville, mansions and manicured ranches fill its pretty green hills, while its largest town Franklin - where Miley grew up -? is ½Ò¤Ù¤ëd as a 'storybook American small town'.

US website The Daily ÊóÃη¸ ±É´§¤òÍ¿¤¨¤ëd it number one of America's 100 most ÊݼéŪ¤Ê -friendly ·´s in 2010.

Billy Cerveny, a country singer who's lived in the area for 10 years, told the website: 'There¡Çs more guitar-·ÁÂÖ¡¿Ä´À°d swimming pools per square mile than anywhere else I can think of. Franklin is country chic ¡½ it¡Çs where you¡Çd go to find a very expensive ¶ì¤·¤á¤ëd antique dining room ¡ÊÊÆ¡Ëê¾å¤²¤¹¤ë¡¿¡Ê±Ñ¡ËÄóµÄ¤¹¤ë you¡Çve been looking for.'

He Äɲ乤ëd: 'You can¡Çt swing a dead cat and not ¹¶·â¤¹¤ë¡¤¾×Æͤ¹¤ë a church. It¡Çs very evangelical in that sense.'

When cost of living is factored into À¤ÂÓ income it is in fact the wealthiest ·´ in America, helped by several other celebrities who also call it home, ´Þ¤àing: Dolly Parton, Nicole Kidman, Keith ÅÔ»Ô¤Î, Tim McGraw and Ìó« Hill.

·´ »ÔĹ Rogers Anderson has said: 'We¡Çre very ÊݼéŪ¤Ê, and we¡Çre proud of what the people here have. We¡Çve had a very strong growing community, this is a ¹Âç¤Ê¡¿Â¿¿ô¤Î¡¿½ÅÍ×¤Ê place to live.'

While ¶¦Ï¹ñ¤Î¡¿¶¦ÏÂÅޤΠÂåɽ¼Ô¡¿¹ñ²ñµÄ°÷ Marsha Blackburn, who has Âåɽ¤¹¤ëd the area since 2003, said: 'It is the best place on earth. 'She was just ¸ºß a Àµµ¬¤Î¡¿ÀµÁª¼ê person but since she¡Çs so big when people find something to bash her with, they¡Çre going to bash her.'

However Madi thinks her old pal should ¹Â¤Ø¤Ï¤Þ¤é¤»¤ë¡¿ÉÔ»þÃ夹¤ë her new habit of sticking out her tongue all the time.

She said: 'I think the tongue thing is just a Ãʳ¬¡Ä that¡Çs Æù¿Æ¡¤¿ÆÎàd of new, she never did that when we were younger. I think she¡Çll grow out of it.'

Madi and Miley¡Çs 20-strong cheerleading team would travel out of ÌÀ¸À¤¹¤ë¡¿¸øɽ¤¹¤ë each ½µËö to ¶¥Áès and won several ¥È¥í¥Õ¥£¡¼s.

Miley left at 13 to concentrate on Hannah Montana, Äê´üŪ¤Ë doing sell-out concert ¾®Î¹¹Ô¤¹¤ës ¤È°ì½ï¤Ë »ö¼Â¾å¤Î¡¿ÂåÍý in the show.

Showing off never-before-seen pictures of them together as youngsters while ½Ò¤Ù¤ëing what Miley was like growing up, Madi said: 'Oh my gosh, she¡Çs always had the biggest ÂÖÅÙ, she used to be so sassy all the time, that¡Çs what we loved about her.

'She would ³ä¤ìÌÜ jokes, she was sarcastic, she was a fun person to be around. She¡Çs literally always been like that, she always had that ɽ¸½ she has in the pictures.'

The girls would have sleepovers together while listening to the Spice Girls and eating beanie weenies (an American dish of baked beans and sausages) and ice cream.

Madi said:? 'We would eat ice cream and dance around. She was just fun, she liked to dance around the room.

'We liked Disney Channel, she was pumped when she made it there.'

Madi, who is ½Ï¹Í¤¹¤ë¡¿¹Íθ¤¹¤ëing to be a nurse, is delighted by Miley's success and thinks she¡Çs ±¿Ì¿¤Ë¤¢¤ëd for greatness.

She said: 'They should leave Miley alone and let her be herself, she¡Çs talented and it¡Çs working for her, don¡Çt be a hater.

'She¡Çs telling kids they can ɽÌÀ¤¹¤ë however they want to ɽÌÀ¤¹¤ë and she¡Çs literally Àâ "I don¡Çt care about what people think about me".

'People change, they grow up, they ¿Íʪ¡¿»Ñ¡¿¿ô»ú out themselves. I definitely support it, good for her.

'I think she¡Çs come a long way and I think she¡Çll go on to be one of the biggest singers in the world.'
