Some of Britain’s biggest 星／主役にするs 含むing Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Helen Mirren, were centre 行う／開催する／段階 last night for one of the greatest encores in British theatrical history.

The three dames reprised some of their most acclaimed 業績／成果s as part of a once in a lifetime evening to celebrate the 国家の Theatre’s 50th 周年記念日.

Judi Dench turned the clock 支援する 18 years to 配達する a heart rending 見解／翻訳／版 of Send In The Clowns from Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music that she first 成し遂げるd in 1995 when she played 願望（する） Armfeldt. Dench also read a speech from the Shakespeare classic Antony And Cleopatra, in which she starred opposite Anthony Hopkins in 1987.

Helen Mirren revisited her 2003 役割 as Christine in Eugene O’Neill’s 嘆く／悼むing Becomes Electra and Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith chose to reprise her run as Mrs Sullen in the comedy The Beaux’ Stratagem by George Farquhar in which she starred in 1970.

Sir Derek Jacobi went even その上の 支援する to revisit the 国家の’s first ever 生産／産物 of Hamlet, which opened on October 22, 1963. He played Laertes opposite Sir Peter O’道具 who had the starring 役割.

But in last night’s 祝賀 Jacobi played the Ghost.

DominicCooper and James Corden also took to the 行う／開催する／段階 to recreate the French lesson scene from Alan Bennett’s acclaimed 2004 play The History Boys. The two 星／主役にするs were 事実上の unknowns at the start of the 初めの 生産／産物.

The scene is one of the play’s most popular and 含むs an unorthodox French lesson which takes in a visit to an imaginary 売春宿 and a First World War hospital.

The glittering cast on the Olivier 行う／開催する／段階 during the night also 含むd Christopher Eccleston, Ralph Fiennes, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sir Michael Gambon as 100 星／主役にするs 成し遂げるd excerpts from some of the 国家の’s greatest shows, 含むing War Horse, Guys And Dolls and My Fair Lady.

The 祝祭 lasted two hours and 15 minutes and was broadcast live on BBC2. It was 行う／開催する／段階d in 前線 of 特に 招待するd guests 含むing Dame Joan Plowright, the 未亡人 of Sir Laurence Olivier, the theatre’s first artistic director.

Others in the audience 含むd former artistic directors Sir Trevor Nunn and Sir Richard Eyre, and Juliet Stevenson, Imelda Staunton, Maureen Lipman and Patricia Hodge.

The cast 成し遂げるd a こそこそ動く preview of the show, directed by the theatre’s 現在の artistic director Sir Nicholas Hytner, on Friday night when the audience paid between £50 and £500 for their tickets.
