Andy Murray’s 指名する was engraved on the Wimbledon トロフィー last year by a 76-year-old man who had driven 850 miles across Europe.

Roman Zoltowski makes the 年次の 長期冒険旅行 from his home in Poland in his 52-year-old open-最高の,を越す MG sports car to 成し遂げる his 心にいだくd 役割 at the 選手権s.

He will be 支援する again this year to engrave the men’s and ladies' トロフィーs for the 35th 連続する year.

Mr Zoltowski said: ‘A 76-year-old man 運動ing from Poland in his 52-year-old car to do the engraving ? it’s やめる surreal isn’t it?’

‘I sit in the engraving room, under the 王室の Box just off Centre 法廷,裁判所, with the television so I can watch the game.

‘The トロフィー is 現在のd to players on 法廷,裁判所. When it comes 支援する, covered in sweat and kisses, I engrave it and return it ready for interviews with the 支持する/優勝者.’

Married father Mr Zoltowski started the 職業 in 1979 while living in Wimbledon, south-west London, and working for Halfhide, the jewellers who 供給(する) the トロフィーs and silverware to the All England Club.

He has continued the 職業 even after returning to his native Poland in 1995. Mr Zoltowski cannot 飛行機で行く because the small, sharp chisels he uses are considered 不快な/攻撃 武器s by 航空機によるs.

So instead he packs them into his car ? together with anglepoise lamps, dusters, silver きれいにする fluid, tapes and magnifying glasses - and 始める,決めるs off in the middle 週末 of the 選手権 to make his trans-Europe trek to be in SW19 in time for the 決勝戦.

He also fills up with 準備/条項s 含むing 挟むs, cheese, 肝臓, sausages and energy drinks for the 18 hour 旅行 which takes him through Germany, Holland and Belgium, stopping off with friends on 大勝する.

His 職業 has become harder in the last four years after the All England Club decided to 含む Christian 指名するs rather than 初期のs on the トロフィー.

He 追加するd: ‘Sunday is stressful. You learn to switch off. You don’t talk. But the 週末 is the 最高潮の場面 of my year. I'm not ready to retire and wear slippers yet.

Mr Zoltowski and his family fled to Britain in 1947 after their home was 掴むd by the 共産主義者s and turned into a 集団の/共同の farm.

They had earlier been sent to Siberia by the 侵略するing ロシアのs, where his father is believed to have been 発射 by what is now the 国家保安委員会.

After the 落ちる of the アイロンをかける Curtain, Mr Zoltowski and his siblings bought 支援する their old family home and returned to Poland.
