Australia's first gay wedding held at British 領事館 to take advantage of new UK 法律... but the marriage STILL isn't recognised here

Two men 公式に became the first same-sex couple to 合法的に marry in Australia on Friday.
The only catch was, as soon as they stepped outside the British 領事館 in Sydney where the 儀式 took place, their 共同 was not recognised under Australian 法律.
One half of the history-making couple said にもかかわらず 存在 the first to marry abroad under new British marriage equality 脚 islation, he and his husband were 簡単に trying to 固執する to tradition.

'Far from trying to break 負かす/撃墜する marriage we are trying to join it. We're trying to join that tradition,' Gordon Stevenson, 61, said after the 儀式.
In March same-sex marriage became 合法的な in England and むちの跡s, and the marriage equality 法律s are now 延長するd to 24 other countries, 含むing Australia.
Couples can 結婚する if at least one of them 持つ/拘留するs a British 市民権, which is why Gordon Stevenson and Peter Fraser were married within the 塀で囲むs of the 領事館.

Mr Fraser and Mr Stevenson both 持つ/拘留する 二重の British-Australian 市民権s and have lived 負かす/撃墜する Under for 19 years, but both donned traditi onal Highland dress for the wedding in a 言及/関連 to their their Scottish 遺産.

'While I do feel so proud and really 特権d to be the first in what I'm sure will be many couples here, I am also conscious that now we've left the 領事館 and gone outside our marriage will not be recognised here, under Australian 法律,' he said.

'I hope soon also that all Australians will be able to marry the person that they love here in Australia with their family and friends around us as w e have done, but without the need to 捜し出す to 保護 of the 法律s of another country.'
にもかかわらず not wanting to politicise his big day too much, Mr Stevenson 勧めるd the 総理大臣 to take the lead from other nations and think 支援する to his own wedding day 'and all the joy and love' that he and his wife experienced.
'And then I would ask him, would you not also want that for us... And for everybody that wants to be married, regardless.
