A Harry Potter rotunda, Willy Wonka glass 解除する and the 'most 重要な change to London's skyline since St Paul's' all in the running for UK's biggest architecture prize

A Harry Potter-style rotunda, Willy Wonka glass 解除する and London's 注目する，もくろむ-catching 超高層ビル The Shard are on the shortlist for architecture's 最高の，を越す prize.

The Riba Stirling Prize - whose 指名された人s also 含む Liverpool's Eve ryman Theatre, the London Aquatic Centre, the London School of 経済的なs, and Manchester School of Art - is awarded 毎年 to the best new building.

裁判官s 賞賛するd the 革命の design of the Library of Birmingham. With its 'Harry Potter rotunda' and 'Willy Wonka-style glass 解除する', it was 述べるd as a 目印 that has 'shaken the 伝統的な perception of a library'.

The Library of Birmingham has been shortlisted for the prestigious award, with 裁判官s 説 its design has 'shaken the 伝統的な perception of a library'

The futuristic library was designed by Francine Hoube and 公式に opened last year - 同様に as lending, it houses the city's collection of 古記録s, photography and rare 調書をとる／予約するs

裁判官s compared The Shard to the 'Gothic spire of a German cathedral' and said it was 'the most 重要な step 今後 on the London skyline since St Paul's'.

They said that making the tower, which is not yet fully 占領するd but houses a health clinic, offices, restaurants, hotel, apartments and public 見解（をとる）ing gallery,?on such a tight 場所／位置 was a 'rare 業績／成就'.

'Understanding that there are many days when the London skyline reads only as a depressing grey silhouette, the architects have left a 相当な part at the 最高の，を越す open, 追加するing その上の to the lightness even in these 条件s, not unlike the Gothic spire of a German cathedral.'

一方／合間, they said the Manchester School Of Art felt more as though you were 'entering a 主要都市の art gallery rather than a university department' and would 影響（力） the design of art schools and other university buildings for years to come.

The Olympic Park's London Aquatics Centre also recieved high 賞賛する, with 裁判官s 賞賛するing architect Zaha Hadid's building, which was 奮起させるd by the 'fluid geometry of water in 動議', as very beautiful and 'conceptually flawless'.

Liverpool's Everyman Theatre was built on the 場所／位置 of the old theatre after it was みなすd unsuited for 生産／産物s and the audience in the 21st century. But the new build 保持するs the ambience of an old building thanks to the use of 再生利用するd and exposed brick, 裁判官s said.

'After nine years' gestation, Liverpool has a brand new 目的-built theatre of 優れた 質. This is a building that will age gracefully, continually 濃厚にするd by the patina of daily use. It will both 安心させる and delight its loyal audience and those discovering this gem for the first time.'

Also shortlisted is the London School of 経済的なs Saw Swee Hock Student Centre - a 'startlingly 初めの building', which is 'beautifully 建設するd' and a '大規模な 出資／貢献 to its townscape'.

Riba (王室の 学校／設ける Of British Architects) 大統領，／社長 Stephen Hodder said the shortlisted buildings were 'poetic'.

'The shortlist 構成するs no ordinary new swimming pool, office 封鎖する, theatre, library or university - they are beautiful, 奮起させるing and transformative new buildings that their communities can relish and be proud of,' he said. 'They are remarkably （手先の）技術d buildings and, the closer you look at their 詳細（に述べる）, both internally and externally, and their materiality, the more impressive they become.'

The 勝利者, 選ぶd by a team of 裁判官s, will be 発表するd on October 16.
