海洋 Ashley Hicks died when he fell into the gorge while 'escaping' from other s oldiers during a training 演習

A 王室の 海洋 died during a gruelling Special 軍隊s 選択 演習 when he fell into a mountain gorge which should have been out of bounds.

But an 検死 heard that the hazard’s 指名する was written in Welsh on a 軍の 地図／計画する ? and no one realised the danger.

特殊部隊員 Ashley Hicks fell into the 100ft gorge as he tried to reach a 安全な point while ‘escaping’ from other 兵士s as part of the night-time training 使節団.

A 検死官 yesterday said the 25-year-old’s death was ‘明確に avoidable’ in a damning finding for 軍の 長，指導者s.

On the planning 地図／計画する used to 簡潔な／要約する 軍隊／機動隊s before the 演習, the word ‘gorge’ was in its Welsh? translation ? ‘ceunant’ ? so 非，不，無 of the 指揮官s had realised it was a hazard.

検死官 Nicola Jones said: ‘Had the gorge been identified in the recce [偵察] 手続き it would have been out of bounds and he wouldn’t have been there.The 失敗 to identify this gorge as an unduly 危険な 場所 is 明確に the most 重要な 与える／捧げるing factor to Ashley slipping and 落ちるing.’

認めるing that lessons had been learned by the 軍の, she went on to say: ‘Crucially, there will be more 試みる／企てるs to 伸び（る） 地元の specialist knowledge of 容認できない hazards on training grounds in 未来.’

He said: ‘We are やめる proud of our 地図／計画する-reading ability. On this occasion that ability wasn’t good enough.’

海洋 Hicks, of Solihull, West Midlands, was killed while taking part in 演習s to join an エリート Special 軍隊s 部隊 believed to be the SAS.

He was part of a team climbing in the 悪名高くも inhospitable area to 実験（する） their ‘ability to adapt and 生き残る’ in extreme 条件s.

海洋 Hicks volunteered to lead a team through the 山地の 地域 while 試みる／企てるing to ‘避ける 逮捕（する）’ from other 兵士s.

An 検死 heard how they had 限られた／立憲的な 器具／備品 for the night-time 演習, 含むing a 地図／計画する with ‘little 詳細（に述べる）’ of the area. 海洋 Hicks looked at the 地形 on Google 地図／計画するs where he saw the gorge ? but identified it as a small 河床 rather than a 100ft 減少（する）.

Seconds after telling his 同僚s ‘mind your 地盤’, he 急落するd into Maentwrog Gorge in Snowdonia, North むちの跡s. The 減少（する） was not shown on their 規模 地図／計画する of the area.

When his comrades reached their 同僚 he was drifting in and out of consciousness and had a weak pulse. A few minutes later he stopped breathing.

His comrades carried out CPR on him until a 救助（する） ヘリコプター arrived and he was 急ぐd to Gwynedd Hospital in Bangor, North むちの跡s, where he died.

One of the 軍隊／機動隊s, who cannot be 指名するd, 述べるd the level of 危険 on the 演習, which took place in October 2012, as ‘許容できる’.

But another said the 危険な area would have been placed ‘out of bounds’ had they known about the 法外な-味方するd gorge.

Last summer three 領土の Army 兵士s died in a gruelling SAS 選択 演習 on the hottest day of the year.

Philippa Tuckman, a 軍の 傷害s lawyer, said: ‘Once again the MoD has 設立する itself 直面するing serious questions about whether it is 適切に 保護するing its so ldiers.

‘We have seen time and time again alarming examples which point to 容認できない shortcomings in 軍の practice and a 一貫した 失敗 by the MoD to 観察する the 義務 of care it 借りがあるs its 兵士s.

‘We need to know whether this is another. 兵士s should not die on 演習.’
