The father of a British footb all fan who was killed on Flight MH17 said he hopes his son is not lying somewhere where there would be nobody to give him a 'good cuddle'.

Barry Sweeney, whose 28-year-old son Liam was on the flight on his way to New Zealand, said he has now stopped watching the news because it was so upsetting.

Mr Sweeney was travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with fellow Newcastle 部隊d football fan John Alder when the flight was 攻撃する，衝突する by a surface-to-空気／公表する ミサイル on Thursday, as it flew 33,000ft over 反逆者／反逆する-controlled eastern ウクライナ共和国.

Speaking to ITV’s Good Morning Britain, the 52-year-old father of seven, who cares for his terminally-ill wife Lesley, said: 'Without going into politics because I think the 政府 have to sort that out, I just want them 基本的に to bring the 298 people who need to be brought home for this to の近くに.

'I have seen a little bit of the news, I try to stop watching it only because it is upsetting, 特に when you see 団体／死体 捕らえる、獲得するs but I’m hoping Liam is in one of those because I don’t want him to be lying there somewhere where there’s nobody there to give him a good cuddle, you know.'

Mr Sweeney said the family were struggling to comprehend what had happened to Mr Sweeney and were 'in bits'.

He said: 'For me 本人自身で I’ve never stopped, I’ve been getting up... I don’t think I’ve had any time to think.

'My wife - who was Liam’s step mum - and my ex-wife who I spoke to yesterday, they’re in bits, they just can’t comprehend what’s happened.

'I think I’m getting through it because I can talk to people, as long as I’m talking, I’m 罰金; when I stop, the 涙／ほころびs come.

'Liam was one of those lads where nobody had a bad word to say against him but I never heard him have a bad word to say about anybody else he just got on with things.

'He was a good lad, he was there if you 手配中の，お尋ね者 him to be there. If it had anything to do with Newcastle it might have to come second, but that was Liam.'

Mr Sweeney said: 'The turn out today is 絶対 tremendous. The support from both Newcastle and Sunderland fans 同様に has been amazing.

'This is about coming together for my son. I don’t think the same thing would have happened for me, I don’t think I am that popular.

His grandfather David Sweeney, 74, said he was amazed at the 量 of money which Sunderland FC 支持者s had raised after Mr Sweeney's death

'His mates who couldn’t make it to New Zealand have laid 尊敬の印s and they are 飛行機で行くing to Germany next week, their tickets arrived this morning.'

Talking about the way in which the 犠牲者s had been dealt with, he said: 'We know there are 250 半端物 団体／死体s 設立する now and we are hoping one of them is Liam. I know something needs to be done.

'It is 全く wrong that people are able to walk through the 場所／位置 and do what they want. It should be 安全な・保証するd off.'

David Sweeney, 74, Liam Sweeney's grandfather, 追加するd: '99.9% of Sunderland fans have been tremendous. I am getting の近くに to liking them a lot. I think they have been amazing. The money they have raised is fantastic.'

'It’s 2014, you can’t believe it’s still going on really. It’s unbelievable.'

Pardew also thanked the Sunderland fans who put their usual 競争 to one 味方する and have now raised more than £23,000 in 尊敬の印 to Mr Sweeney and Mr Alder.

'A lot is made of the 競争 between the two cities, and of course that is there,' he said.

'But I would like to thank all the Sunderland fans who have paid 尊敬の印 and helped raise a staggering 量 already.

'I am very proud of Sunderland Football Club for the way they have 行為／行うd themselves and I want to thank them.'

Newcastle 直面する Sydney FC on Tuesday in their 開始 fixture in the southern 半球, and Pardew has 公約するd to play a strong team to help honour the two fans.

He said: 'It’s important we 代表する ourselves in the 権利 manner, 特に after losing John and Liam - our 支持者s who were travelling out here.
