Inside the lost Honduran 'White City': 穴掘り work begins 深い in ジャングル where archaeologists believe they have 設立する the 伝説の 'City of the Monkey God'

Archaeologists have begun 穴掘りs at a mysterious 場所／位置 on Honduras' Caribbean coast that may be the 伝説の lost city of Ciudad Blanca or White City.?

They are かもしれない part of a 儀式の 寺. Other pieces bore decorations that appear to 代表する humans, jaguars, buzzards, lizards and birds.

The 廃虚s, which appear to date to between 1,000 and 1,500 AD, do not appear to be Mayan, the culture that 支配するd other 場所／位置s in the 地域. 'It is a new culture, or a different culture,' Virgilio Paredes, the director of the Honduras' 学校／設ける of Anthropology and Colorado, said.

The city's 指名する is believed to be derived from the white 石灰岩 激しく揺する in the area and after 古代の texts 述べるd ivory 寺s filled with treasures. Western explorers first made 言及／関連 to it from conquistador Hernando Cortes to King Charles V of Spain in 1526.

Honduran 大統領 Juan Orlando Hernandez visited the 場所／位置 and said in a 声明 'We are blessed to be alive at such a special time in Honduran history.'

'This 発見 has created a lot of excitement because of its significance for Honduras and the world,' Hernandez said.

Honduras' 大臣 of Science, Ramon Espinoza, said 'there will be その上の 研究 to gather more data, because there is no other 場所／位置 in central America with a lost civilization.'
