Animal lovers are understandably 乱暴/暴力を加えるd at the (選挙などの)運動をする 開始する,打ち上げるd by 56-year-old Tufty, who is keeping his true 身元 under 包むs for 恐れる of 報復s.

But he (人命などを)奪う,主張するs that his website, deathtogreysquirrels.com, has 証明するd that many others feel the same way as him. "It has been visited by more than 18,000 people since I 始める,決める it up at the beginning of last month," he said.

Apart from a recipe for squirrel pie, the website 含むs hints on "狙撃 the buggers" and ways to keep them out of the garden.

At his three-bedroom terrace house 近づく a park, Tufty said squirrels had driven him "almost nuts".

"I don't hate animals," he said. "I'm just an ordinary bloke who likes to 料金d the birds in the 支援する garden - but these little devils are 廃虚ing it. They keep eating the 料金d I put out for the birds. I looked into the 合法性 of 狙撃 them and 設立する it was 承認する, but I thought it's probably not socially 許容できる. I've just got a squirrel 罠(にかける) and have caught five in the last 24 hours." The 罠(にかける), he says, kills them humanely.

On the website, Tufty also 非難するs the squirrels for destroying birds' nests and 会談 of the 失望/欲求不満 of spending all afternoon digging in crocus bulbs, then waking up in the morning "to find your garden 国境s looking like the 影響 of the 戦う/戦い of the Somme while up a tree laughing at you is a very sly, fat grey squirrel".

Chefs at the St John restaurant in central London, where squirrels have appeared on the menu braised in ワイン and 在庫/株 and served with shallots and bacon, say it is very lean, a bit like beef, b ut tastes a little 甘い.

Tufty, who says the website is "わずかに tongue in cheek" but has a serious point to make, said: "I 港/避難所't eaten squirrel yet, but I'm told it's delicious. I'm tempted to find a butcher who can butcher it for me so I can make the pie. I may have a squirrel for Christmas."

Andrew Tyler, director of Animal 援助(する), Britain's biggest animal 権利s group, said: "This is a sick and demented stunt."

The RSPCA is "not wildly" プロの/賛成の-grey squirrel, but does not 支持する a 集まり cull. "We would encourage people to find ways of deterring them by 否定するing 接近 to food and 避難所," a 広報担当者 said.

But Tufty replied: "Squirrels are a pest. They must be 除去するd before they take over the world."
