When hard working folk feel the 利益

Last updated at 15:50 27 February 2006

How refreshing to see a larger-than-usual family in Britain 辞退するing to draw 明言する/公表する 利益s even though in doing so they would be more than £2,000 a year better off.

Ray and Chris Beadle have 12 children and have to work four 職業s between them to bring up their brood. Their 連合させるd 収入s of £12,000 a year are やめる rightly 補足(する)d by £3,224 child 利益 and £6,000 in 税金 credit ? money they are する権利を与えるd to under 労働’s 対策 to support low income families.

"Yes, of course we could jack in all the hard work and 強調する/ストレス of trying to make ends 会合,会う," says Mrs Beadle. "But I want to walk out of my 前線 door with my 長,率いる held high knowing this family 支払う/賃金s its own way."

Compare this to Ellen Morris, the mother of 13 children on an 年次の income of £28,000 in 明言する/公表する 利益s and who wants to 延長する her family. The 39-year-old, who has been relying on the 明言する/公表する since she became 妊娠している and left school at 16, appears to spend much of her…sorry, our money on cigarettes, alcohol and 明言する/公表する-of-the-art 科学(工学)技術 such as a wide 審査する TV.

"I'd like another couple of kids," she said. "Why not? It's not 平易な making the money stretch. They all want the 最新の gear and Nike trainers and I like Lacoste jumpers. Then there's my cigs. I smoke 40 a day and I like vodka and Cokes. You've got to have some 楽しみs in life."

The difference between the two? Mrs Beadle has two 質s that seem to be distinctly 欠如(する)ing in a large number of this country’s 居住(者)s in 最近の years: pride and a sense of 責任/義務. 行方不明になる Morris, on the other 手渡す, comes from the growing number of people who automatically think they are 借りがあるd something ? not just by the 明言する/公表する but by everyone around them.

While Mrs Beadle says "it makes me sick when I hear about people who have never done a day’s work in their lives getting tens of thousands of 続けざまに猛撃するs in 利益s", her 失業 相当するもの ? whose partner and father of all their children left four years ago に引き続いて the birth of their last child - sees nothing wrong with relying on the 明言する/公表する. This is not to について言及する the 圧力 her 明らかに unhealthy lifestyle is either having or will have on our already stretched 国家の Health Service.

But we cannot lay the 非難する 単独で at the door of people like 行方不明になる Morris. We live in a selfish society where it’s みなすd all 権利 to take, take, take and not give much 支援する at all. The 利益s system in this country, coupled with high 税金s, only serves to encourage low-income families to give up work and 調印する on. Where is the incentive to get a 職業 and earn a 行う?

The saddest thing of all though is that this 態度 is going to passed 負かす/撃墜する the 世代s ? it stands to 推論する/理由 that children growing up in families living on 利益s don’t have much incentive to go out to work either.

So a big pat on the 支援する to Mrs Beadle ? she is a dying 産む/飼育する and an example to us all.
