Three 有罪の over couple's '復讐' 殺人 at seaside home

Three men were today 設立する 有罪の of conspiring to 殺人 a married couple who were 設立する 発射 dead at their seaside home.

John Russell, Michael McNee and a 39-year-old who cannot be 指名するd for 合法的な 推論する/理由s were 罪人/有罪を宣告するd by a 大多数 判決 of plotting to 遂行する/発効させる Joan and John Stirland between August 1 and August 9, 2004, in 復讐 for a 殺人 carried out by Michael O'Brien, Mrs Stirland's son by a previous marriage.

Shane Bird, Kevin Holm, Andrew McKinnon, Lanelle Douglas and a 40-year-old who also cannot be 指名するd were (疑いを)晴らすd of the same 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金 に引き続いて more than 26 hours of 審議 by the 陪審/陪審員団 at Birmingham 栄冠を与える 法廷,裁判所.

The couple were 遂行する/発効させるd at their bungalow in the seaside village of Trusthorpe, Lincolnshire, on August 8, 2004.

The Stirlands knew they were at 危険 of 存在 的d by gunmen hell -bent on 復讐 and had sought 避難 in the 静かな village after an earlier attack on their Nottingham home.

But the three men, who are all from Nottingham, 跡をつけるd them 負かす/撃墜する to their modest hideaway.

They struck just weeks after O'Brien was 刑務所,拘置所d for life for 殺人,大当り Marvyn Bradshaw, an innocent man.

The catalyst for their 殺人,大当りs was the death of a 十代の少年少女 who was with O'Brien's 犠牲者 the night he was 発射 outside a pub in August 2003.

Unable to 対処する, the 18-year-old turned to 麻薬s and died of 肺炎 a year after the 殺人.

捜し出すing to avenge both deaths, the 被告s 始める,決める about planning the 二塁打 死刑執行 from a caravan park in nearby Ingoldmells.

Their 計画(する) was carried out within a week of the 十代の少年少女's death, when the Stirlands were 殺人d by two men who burst into their seaside chalet 武装した with Beretta ピストルs.

"Their vengeance was swift and 破滅的な," 検察官,検事 Timothy Spencer QC told the 法廷,裁判所.

Mr Stirland, 55, was 発射 six times, his 51-year-old wife four times.

The 起訴 was unable to 設立する who pulled the 誘発する/引き起こす and 認める that not all the ギャング(団) members had been traced.

Members of Kevin Holm and Shane Bird's family were ordered to leave the 審理,公聴会 by 裁判,公判 裁判官 Mr 司法(官) Treacy after shouting and clapping as their not 有罪の 判決s were returned.

There were shouts of "scumbag" and "slut" from the ドッキングする/減らす/ドックに入れる as the forewoman returned the 陪審/陪審員団's 判決.

One of the 被告s was heard to shout something which sounded like: "裁判官, die of 援助(する)s, you prick."

The three 有罪の 判決s were returned by a 大多数 of eleven to one.

救済

Shane Bird's wife told outside 法廷,裁判所 of her 救済 に引き続いて the 判決s.

Melanie Bird said: "I'm so glad it's over. All this waiting has been very str essful."

The mother-of-five said she was 確信して the 訂正する 判決 had been returned and that the 権利 men had been (疑いを)晴らすd of all 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金s.

She said: "I wouldn't have stood by my husband if he wasn't innocent. When you have been with someone for so long and have got five kids with him, you just know he is not 有能な of this."

Mrs Stirland's family today paid 尊敬の印 to her and her husband as "a loving, caring couple".

In a 声明 解放(する)d through Lincolnshire Police after the 判決s were returned, 親族s said: "John and Joan were an ordinary middle-老年の couple trying to build a new life in a new home.

"They led a normal life, enjoying a 位置/汚点/見つけ出す of gardening and watching the football and cricket.

"They were a loving, caring couple. They were a mother, stepfather and doting grandparents.

"Joan was a nurse who cared for children and the 年輩の. She enjoyed helping anyone in any way she could."

The 声明 continued: "This was a 完全に unnecessary and pointless 殺人,大当り of an innocent, loving couple.

"Losing John and Joan in this horrific, horrible way has 荒廃させるd the family's lives beyond belief.

"The grandchildren will have to grow up not knowing their grandparents as they should have done.

"The family are all truly heartbroken. They will never stop thinking about John and Joan and loving them, and will keep them in their children's hearts for ever."

In a separate 声明, Mr Stirland's 親族s said their lives had been "a nightmare" since the couple were 殺人d in August 2004.

A family 広報担当者 said: "The last 23 months have been a nightmare for the family. There is a 抱擁する 無効の in our lives that was once filled by John and Joan.

"The 悲劇の events of August 2004 have robbed us of a father and a grandfather. John now has a grandson that he will never see. His grandchildren have been 奪うd of the 特権 of knowing him. He will not see them grow up and develop.

"We all 行方不明になる John and Joan very mu ch and are much poorer without them. They were innocent 犠牲者s and did not deserve to die in such a violent, pointless way.

"Hopefully after today's 判決s we can draw a line under this terrible 状況/情勢 and try to move on with our lives.

Mr 司法(官) Treacy 示すd that he will pass 宣告,判決 on the three 罪人/有罪を宣告するd men tomorrow morning.
