'Lady Godiva' rides again...in Oxford

An 予期しない sight 迎える／歓迎するd a few startled 早期に risers this morning as a beautiful young woman 棒 naked on a white horse through city centre streets.

But Phoebe Thomas was stripping off not to shock but in the 指名する of art as she and a film 乗組員 発射 a very modern re-telling of the Lady Godiva legend.

Lady Godiva's modesty was said to be 保存するd only by her long tresses when she 棒 naked through the streets of Coventry in 抗議する against her husband's 厳しい 課税 of his people.

Today, Ms Thomas's 栄冠を与えるing glory 供給するd a little 保護 against the 冷気／寒がらせる 空気／公表する at 4.30am.

But thanks to 前進するs in fabric 科学（工学）技術 since the 初めの Godiva's day, she was also able to slip into a flesh-coloured thong and tights to make the ride a little more comfortable.

She was filming the climactic scene to a romantic comedy 始める，決める の中で the dreaming spires of Oxford.

The brainchild of 20-year-old Vicky Jewson, the film nods to quirky British 攻撃する，衝突するs like Notting Hill and Bridget Jones.

It is a tale of a young woman driven to desperate 対策 to raise money for a worthy 原因（となる）, with a few romantic 災害s and 勝利s along the way.

"Lady Godiva was a 広大な／多数の／重要な tale to adapt. It's a tale that's never been told before, a 肉親，親類d of undiscovered コマドリ Hood, the story of one woman's 勝利 over adversity," said Ms Jewson.

Ms Jewson started to 令状 her Lady Godiva script straight after her A-levels and decided to 溝へはまらせる／不時着する 計画（する）s for university ーするために concentrate on film-making.

Remarkably she has 安全な・保証するd £1.4 million of 支援 for the film from 独立した・無所属 投資家s.

無線で通信する 4 presenter Nicholas Parsons is the associate 生産者 and Adam Kempton, who made The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp, is the 生産者.

Ms Thomas's character, Jemima, is a young teacher struggling to come to 条件 with her brother's death.

She finds solace in a children's arts centre but money is tight and it is 脅すd with clos ure.

By chance, she 会合，会うs gorgeous cad Michael Bartle, played by Matthew 議会s, a 悪名高い playboy who owns the world-famous horse Lady Godiva.

さまざまな romantic 失望s follow, 含むing Jemima's humiliation on 国家の TV a la Bridget Jones, before she discovers that Michael has made a £100,000 bet that she will not ride naked through Oxford.

Thus Ms Thomas 設立する herself 覆う？ only in a thong and a towelling 式服 in 前線 of 100 extras on Oxford's historic Magdalen 橋（渡しをする） to film the central scene.

Ms Jewson said she was relieved to get the 発射 in the 捕らえる、獲得する in just three takes.

"Without this scene, we wouldn't have a film. It 簡単に couldn't be filmed anywhere else, as there is no '団体／死体 二塁打' for the dreaming spires of Oxford. So I had no choice but to get everyone up long before 夜明け, stop the traffic every few minutes and do it in as few takes as possible.

"All credit to the cast, 乗組員 and extras who made this happen quickly and with so little fuss."
