'For someone like me who's a quadriplegic, it's a 投げ上げる/ボディチェックする-up between 手渡す 機能(する)/行事 and 性の 機能(する)/行事.'

The mom-of-one, who had her first child Kaylee with her husband Chris last year, 経由で a surrogate, said that she was always able to 肉体的に have sex after her 事故.

But she cannot 最高潮 like she used to because the sensation below her neck is gone.?

Instead, she has learned to enjoy sex in other ways.??

With the help of her rehabilitation team, she has discovered new ways to enjoy love making with her husband, 焦点(を合わせる)ing on the small pleasurable sensations, such as the simple kissing of her neck which has become an erogenous zone since the 事故.

She 追加するd that she still felt 誘発するd by sex, even if she could not enjoy it in the same physical way.

'Your brain still feels 刺激するd,' explains Chapman, 'because a lot of sex is signals sent to your brain. And you get endorphins. And it feels good,' she says, if you know what to 焦点(を合わせる) on.

While Chapman is learning a new way to experience 楽しみ, she is 希望に満ちた that one day new 科学(工学)技術 will be able to 回復する her former sensation and mobility.

And that?科学(工学)技術 may not be far away.

操作/手術s to 回復する 性の sensation for men who have 苦しむd a 永久の spinal cord 傷害 have been carried out for the past 15 years.

As the 神経s serving the thigh typically attach to the spine at a higher point than the 神経s serving the genitals, the re-大勝するing is able to 回復する sensation in 患者s with lower spine 傷害s.?

And in January, the Dutch 外科医 who has been 開拓するing the 治療,?Max Overgoor, will 成し遂げる the first 操作/手術 to 回復する sensation to a 女性(の) 患者.

Sadly, Chapman's spinal 傷害 延長するs from the neck 負かす/撃墜する and so she would not be a suitable 候補者 for the 操作/手術.

But the 外科 is one step closer to 回復するing 性の sensation in the hundreds of 患者s who have not only been robbed of their ability to walk, but to enjoy a healthy sex life.

It is also helping to break the タブー of sex の中で the 無能にするd who can often be 見解(をとる)d as asexual, unwilling or unable to have sex.

Chapman herself decided to challenge that タブー last year, by stripping 負かす/撃墜する to her underwear for a sexy photo shoot as part of an 権力を与えるing social マスコミ (選挙などの)運動をする, which she opened up about in an interview with People.

In the photos, Rachelle 提起する/ポーズをとるs on a bed in a variety of sexy underthings, from a matching pink lace 始める,決める to a pair of purple panties.

'I'm hoping it will 奮起させる others to just 焦点(を合わせる) on the things they love about themselves and not be so 批判的な,' she said last year, 追加するing that she is 株ing the pictures on Facebook and Twitter. 'I'm encouraging everyone to get on social マスコミ and について言及する something they love about themselves with the hashtag #WhatMakesMeSexy.'

But while she 設立する the courage to 明らかにする all doesn't mean that she doesn't still struggle with insecurities - 特に about her catheter, which is 明白な in all of the pictures.

'The big thing that I am self-conscious about is the catheter I have to wear all the time,' she said. 'I have to 受託する it, and I 手配中の,お尋ね者 to show pe ople that just because you have this, just own it. It doesn't have to be the 焦点(を合わせる) of what you are, what you look like.'

'I want to put a different 直面する to disability,' she said, 追加するing that she hopes that her message will resonate with women who aren't 無能にするd, too: 'We all have 欠陥s [and] we all have things going for us, and for the first time I'm not hiding my catheter. I'm not hiding anymore.'

Chapman's life all changed in?May 2010, when she was celebrating her 近づいている marriage to her now-husband Chris Chapman,32,?and a friend playfully 押し進めるd her into a swimming pool.

Rachelle's 長,率いる 攻撃する,衝突する the 底(に届く) of the pool, resulting in a spinal cord 傷害 that left her unable to walk. Though doctors told her she would still be able to have children, she later learned that the 血 圧力 医薬 she had to take because of her 傷害 would be dangerous to a fetus.

Happily for the Chapmans, who married a year after Rachelle's 事故 in 2011, Rachelle's college friend Laurel Humes agreed to be a surrogate for the couple - and they welcomed daughter Kaylee Rae Champman on Sunday.

Rachelle said baby Kaylee, who is 'amazing but exhausting', (機の)カム home from the hospital in a gown that the new mom herself wore as an 幼児.

'She looked beautiful in it, and it was so 象徴的な ? until she pooped,' she told People.

Adjusting to life with an 幼児 is a big change for any parent, but Rachelle has a unique 始める,決める of struggles.

Though she has some use of her 手渡すs, she has to learn how to care for her daughter with a 限られた/立憲的な 範囲 of 動議. Since bringing Kaylee home, Rachelle has burped and fed her, but has trouble 転換ing the new baby from one position to another.

She has also had to find furniture that can 融通する her 車椅子; the couple has a 特に built crib that she can roll under, 同様に as a low changing (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する that's 現実に a desk.

'It's taking some practice but I'm getting it,' she said.

Rachelle 認める that there was a time when she was disappointed because she thought she would be a mom by the age of 27, but she now believes that waiting longer to become a mother was for the best.

'It didn't やめる happen [the way I planned], but it did finally happen and I think I'm much more comfortable with my 傷害 now,' she explained. 'I understand my 団体/死体 and I' m ready to be a mom.'

That better 認識/意識性 of her strengths and 制限s is also helpful in an 教育の capacity, as Rachelle wants to teach others more about what it means to be a quadriplegic.

'People think as a quadriplegic I can't move anything, [but] that's not true,' she told People soon after the baby was born. 'This is mostly about educating people about parenthood, what I'm 有能な of, what it's like to have a spinal cord 傷害 and our 関係. There's a lot I can do and I want people to see that.'?
