Bernard Matthews took 48 hours to 報告（する）／憶測 turkey deaths

村人s in the picturesque village of Holton watched as the 場所／位置 was taped off by police who の近くにd roads and 施行するd a three kilometre 保護 zone and a 10 kilometre 監視 zone to kee p poultry away from any wild birds.

The first 警告 at the Bernard Matthews farm （機の）カム last Tuesday when 55 turkey chicks died and 16 had to be culled because they were ill. The birds 代表するd one per cent of the 7,000 birds under eight weeks old in the shed.

生産／産物 at the factory is thought to have stopped on Friday.

Turkeys and other poultry have been kept on the 場所／位置 since 1969. The farm and 隣接する factory 雇うs around 1,000 people, おもに migrant 労働者s - many of them Portuguese - who are bussed to work from the nearby towns of Beccles, Lowestoft and 広大な／多数の／重要な Yarmouth. Yesterday around two dozen of them - those who worked in the shed where the flock was 感染させるd - were 存在 inoculated at a nearby 外科.

One 労働者 who did not want to be 指名するd said: "We are all really worried about the consequences of this.

"Most of the people killed by bird flu in Asia had come into 接触する with 感染させるd birds.

Defra is working on the basis that a wild bird, 感染させるd with the 病気, could have infiltrated the shed, and has 警告するd anyone keeping poultry to be extra vigilant.
