Oil 巨大(な)s 始める,決める to 利益(をあげる) from 石油 debacle

Last updated at 13:22 05 March 2007

Millions of 運転者s will 支払う/賃金 more for 石油 this week in the wake of the tainted 燃料 大混乱.

卸売物価s have 殺到するd as Asda, Tesco and Morrisons 捜し出す new 供給(する)s to 取って代わる the 石油 which put thousands of cars out of 活動/戦闘.

Oil 巨大(な)s have been (刑事)被告 of cashing in with instant rises at the pumps of up to 3p a litre (14p a gallon).

It means 運転者s throughout the country are 支払う/賃金ing for a problem which mostly 影響する/感情d the South-East of England. The AA said they should be rightly furious if they were '存在 rippedoff through 不当利得行為' by the oil companies.

But worried 運転者s were still shunning supermarket forecourts and 列ing at garages 非難する the higher prices.

Ray Holloway, of the 石油 Retailers' 協会, said it would be the 石油 巨大(な)s such as BP, 爆撃する and Texaco who would 利益 from rising prices.

Even if their 利ざやs at the forecourts are tight, the 産業 takes 利益(をあげる)s at every 行う/開催する/段階 of 生産/産物 - from the moment oil is pumped from the ground to when it is pumped into 燃料 戦車/タンクs.

The 週末 brought 石油 price rises across Britain. The price of unleaded went up by almost 4p a litre, from 87p to 90.9p, at the BP Sunny 宿泊する garage in Malvern, Worcestershire, on Friday.

At Northwick Service 駅/配置する in Worcester, unleaded went up 3p to 91.9p. while a Texaco garage in Aylesbury 増加するd its prices from 89.9p a litre to 91.9p.

A BP 駅/配置する at Kinning Park, Glasgow - hundreds of miles from the supermarket problem -増加するd its unleaded price by nearly 2p to 87.9p.

顧客s were 警告するd that a その上の rise was on the way. 'It is 負かす/撃墜する to 汚染,' said a cashier.

Even a filling 駅/配置する at Thurso, in the far north of Scotland, raised its price by 3p a litre, to 94.9p.

But most 運転者s appeared ready to 支払う/賃金 the higher price rather than return to the supermarket pumps.

In Leighton Buzzard, Buckinghamshire, a Total-branded forecourt selling unleaded at 91.9p was still (人が)群がるd with drivers.

A Morrisons forecourt 250 yards away, 申し込む/申し出ing unleaded at 86.9p, was 砂漠d.

石油 for Britain is bought and sold 卸売 on international '位置/汚点/見つけ出す' markets for North West Europe.

Prices there were 押し進めるd up by the 予期しない 即座の 需要・要求する from UK supermarkets for an 概算の 50million extra litres to 取って代わる tainted 在庫/株.

This, in turn, was passed on to the pumps.

Mr Holloway said: 'The extra 需要・要求する - with 限られた/立憲的な short-称する,呼ぶ/期間/用語 extra 供給(する) - means anyone else buying 石油 will also have to 支払う/賃金 the higher price.

'It's almost instantaneous. As soon as the new and more expensive 燃料 is 配達するd, the price goes up.

'Whoever has the oil to sell - and this is most likely the major oil companies - will 最終的に see the extra 利益(をあげる)s 注ぐ into their coffers.'

He 追加するd: '運転者s outside the South- east of England who thought they might have got away trouble-解放する/自由な will now - from Lands End to John O'Groats - 支払う/賃金 the price of the 汚染 through higher pump prices.'

AA 広報担当者 Luke Bosdet said:'It appears someone is taking the mickey. Putting up prices to make a 急速な/放蕩な buck is 完全に unjustified. It 追加するs 侮辱 to 傷害.

'いつかs garages 増加する the price to 保護する 在庫/株s from a sudden run. But if anyone has upped the price outside the areas where the problems have been - say two miles from a Tesco or Morrisons 蓄える/店 - then they are milking the system'.

Last month BP 発表するd 利益(をあげる)s of £11.34billion for last year - にもかかわらず a 落ちる of 12 per cent for the final three months. The company was maki ng 利益(をあげる)s at the 率 of £31million a day.

爆撃する's 利益(をあげる)s 攻撃する,衝突する £12.9billion - £35million a day. But oil companies 否定するd cashing in on drivers' 恐れるs about tainted 燃料 脅す.

The UK 石油 産業 協会 said: 'There is no 不当利得行為. Oil 製品s are 定価つきの to the market. Pump prices are usually linked to the price of 天然のまま oil or the 卸売物価 of 石油.'

爆撃する 確認するd there had been price rises at its pumps, but 否定するd '不当利得行為'. It

said it was 答える/応じるing to ' market 条件s'.

A 広報担当者 said: 'Yes, there have been price rises in the market. It 変化させるs from place to place. But 爆撃する 否定するs 不当利得行為.

'At a time of high 需要・要求する, 供給(する) has dropped. 精製するing capacity is low. 供給(する)s have been driven 負かす/撃墜する by the 在庫/株 replenishment of supermarket retailers. This has had an 衝撃 on 卸売物価s. 天然のまま prices are also rising.

'It is costing us more to buy the 製品. There's not enough 供給(する) in the market.'

BP said it had not put up prices at any of its 300 company-owned 場所/位置s, but could not speak for the 600 BPbranded 場所/位置s owned by 取引,協定-ers. A 広報担当者 said:'We 否定する 不当利得行為. The 問題/発行する about 汚染 is an 産業-wide 問題/発行する.'

Mr Holloway also (刑事)被告 supermarkets of 'cynically' 許すing their 顧客s to fill up with the tainted 石油 when though 証拠 of a problem had 現れるd a fortnight earlier.

専門家s say the cost of 補償するing drivers for 損失d filters could 最高の,を越す £10million -with the supermarkets, 石油 供給者s and 保険会社s squabbling over who will 支払う/賃金.

The 汚染 was traced to the Vopak 精油所 on the Thames Estuary in Essex. It is used by the 競争相手 卸売業者s 収穫 Energy - which 供給(する)s Asda - and Greenergy, which 供給(する)s Tesco and Morrisons.

Greenergy said an additive 存在 used by 収穫 Energy in the 生産/産物 of unleaded 石油 - believed to be toluene - had bee n 設立する to 含む/封じ込める '超過' levels of silicon, which is used to stop some other 燃料s frothing.

The cross- 汚染 meant that 顧客s of Tesco and Morrisons - and not just Asda - were 影響する/感情d.

The contaminant 損失d delicate oxygen sensors in engine 燃料 管理/経営 systems, 原因(となる)ing them to switch to 緊急 settings.

収穫 Energy said the 汚染 was not 設立する not because 決まりきった仕事 実験(する)s did not cover silicon as it would not 普通は be in the 燃料.

The 会社/堅い said it would carry out such 実験(する)s in 未来.

The 危機 has led to Tesco emptying unleaded 石油 戦車/タンクs in around 150 forecourts and refilling them with clean 燃料.

Some 41 Morrison 場所/位置s and 30 Asda forecourts were also 影響する/感情d.
