70 dead as powerful 地震 strikes Sumatra

A powerful 地震 has destroyed houses across western Indonesia, 殺人，大当り at least 70 people and 負傷させるing hundreds.

The 地震, which 手段d 6.3 on the Richter 規模, struck Sumatra island and was felt as far away as Malaysia and Singapore, where some tall buildings were 避難させるd. It was followed by several strong aftershocks, the strongest 手段ing 6.1.

"Women were crying out in terror. We all just fled as quickly as we could," said Alpion, a welder in the western 沿岸の town of Padang.

With thousands of others, he ran to higher ground, 恐れるing a 津波 that never （機の）カム.
