'損失' of our 二塁打 war 前線

The 武装した 軍隊s cannot fight 同時の wars in Iraq and Afghanistan without 存在 本気で 損失d, Defence 長官 Des Browne has 認める.

In the starkest 承認 yet from a 上級の 大臣 of the 抱擁する 緊張する on the 軍の, he said the 軍隊s would be "degraded" unless one or both of the 操作／手術s could be 負傷させる 負かす／撃墜する soon.

He spoke hours after visiting Iraq with Gordon Brown, where the 総理大臣-in-waiting

Mr Brown 認める "mistakes were made" and 約束d there would be no repeat of the "dodgy dossier" of 欠陥d 知能 used to 支援する the 2003 侵略.

Des Browne said: "We could not 支える that 無期限に／不明確に without doing 重要な 損失 to the 組織／基盤／下部構造 of the 武装した 軍隊s.

"If we were to 捜し出す to 支える this 操作の 速度 無期限に／不明確に then we are in danger of degrading our 軍隊s.

"I do not think we will have 7,000 in Afghanistan and 5,000 in Iraq for the next five years."

He 認める the 軍隊 in Afghanistan is too small

He said: "It has never been our longterm 計画（する） to fight over a piece of ground and 持つ／拘留する it 軍事的に.

In Iraq, Mr Browne said he hoped for a modest 削減（する） in 軍隊／機動隊 numbers from 5,500 to 5,000 this summer.

The former 長，率いる of the Army General Sir マイク Jackson said setting a date for 撤退 from Iraq would be "about the worst thing we could do".

Sir マイク, who retired as 長，指導者 of the General Staff last year, said that Iraq needed Britain's

"十分な-hearted support, in every way".
