With its みごたえのある 11-sail 船の索具, it 解任するs the Barbary corsairs used by 16th-century 著作権侵害者s to wreak terror の中で the merchant (n)艦隊/(a)素早い.

Not bad for an old Norwegian トロール船 which has spent most of its life pulling cod out of the 北極の Ocean.

Mr Neilson 認める the ambitious 革新 事業/計画(する) had not always been plain sailing.

"The past 10年間 has been very hard and it shows how 献身的な we were in 再構築するing this boat.

"Now we can't wait to take her out on her maiden voyage next month. She looks very grand on the sea."

He spent £65,000 on the dieselpowered Pelican, built in フラン in 1946.

"When we brought it 支援する to this country we gutted her and the 船体 was in a 広大な/多数の/重要な 条件," he said.

"It was a fantastic base to work from, and we have meticulously 再建するd her from keel to masthead."

It is hoped the Pelican, whose mast is 100ft high, will reach 速度(を上げる)s of more than ten knots.

The 装備する is the most staggering part of the re-design.

The Barbary corsairs' mixture of Norse square sails and Arab sails enabled 著作権侵害者s to get closer to their 犠牲者s before 速く out-running the 海軍の ships which were sent to 追求する them.

Mr Neilson cannot say how much the 事業/計画(する) cost him.

"A lot of people gave 構成要素s and time for 解放する/自由な over the last 12 years," he said. "But commercially, you would have to spend in the 地域 of £6million to get a ship like this."

The Pelican will take an 概算の seven weeks to sail to St Lucia with a 乗組員 of up to 30.

Sailors with さまざまな levels of experience - 含むing 絶対の beginners - will be 伴う/関わるd.

Volunteers, who will then spend four we eks on holiday in the Caribbean, are 存在 告発(する),告訴(する)/料金d £2,000 for the trip if they are under 25, and £3,000 for anyone over that age.

Mr Neilson, who retired from the 海軍 as 指揮官 of RNAS Yeovilton after joining up at 13, said: "It will be 広大な/多数の/重要な for guests to enjoy all our hard work.

"Sailing is a wonderful and exciting way to see the world."

The ship has been sailing off Dorset since passing its sea 裁判,公判s a week ago. Mr Neilson 追加するd: "Two hundred years ago the sight of a Barbary off the coast would have 原因(となる)d terror.

"Now it gets a very different 返答. One sailor told me it was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen on the water.

"We are very pleased and relieved to have got this far. It has been a 労働 of love for a whole team of 熱烈な people."
