Poor-sighted Stephen Farragher, 47, was supposed to wear glasses as a 条件 of his 運動ing licence and was traveling at 57mph in a 40mph zone, a 法廷,裁判所 heard.

He was on his way home from his 職業 at Lidl, in Maryport, Cumbria, when he 粉砕するd into 79-year-old Audrey Tunstall, and her friend, 36-year-old Natalli Fisher, Carlisle 栄冠を与える 法廷,裁判所 heard.

The older woman died a short time later from her 傷害s, while Ms Fisher 苦しむd 傷害s so 厳しい that she had to spend several months in hospital.

The 法廷,裁判所 heard that in the seconds before the 事故, Farragher, 47, was 運動ing at 57mph in a 40mph zone on the A596 近づく to Dunmail Park shopping centre.

検察官,検事 Paul Cummings told the 法廷,裁判所 that the 事故 happened at 7.20pm on October 22 last year, as the 被告 was 運動ing his Volkswagen Passat on the A596 through a section of road 国境d with bus 避難所s and pavements.

The 検察官,検事 explained that Ms Fisher and her friend had travelled by bus to a 地元の NHS 医療の centre, because the pensioner had been feeling unwell.

Afterwards, they took a bus to Dunmail Park, probably so that the pensioner could get her prescription 医薬 from a pharmacy at the shopping centre.

The 事故 happened in 不明瞭 as the two women were crossing the road.
