An NHS hospital is 手渡すing over new mothers' placentas for use in the 開発 of anti-wrinkle 肌 creams and 高級な shampoo, the Daily Mail can 明らかにする／漏らす today.

The 貿易（する）, which brought in £5,000 for Poole Hospital in Dorset last year, was 非難するd by 政治家，政治屋s and health 専門家s who said they were worried about the 倫理学 伴う／関わるd.

And yesterday one woman, 39-year-old Donna Norman, told of her 乱暴／暴力を加える when she realised that, に引き続いて the arrival of her daughter Milly, the afterbirth was given to a biochemical company.

"I was under the impression that my placenta would only be used for 決定的な 医療の 研究 - not that it may help make some 肌 cream or shampoo," she said.

"They said my placenta would be used to help cure 癌 研究," she 解任するd.

The hospital has 収穫d mothers' placentas and sold them to Sigma-Aldrich, a nearby biochemical company, for five years.

Sigma-Aldrich 抽出するs the placentas' 価値のある proteins, which it sells on to c osmetic scientists.

Its 顧客s 含む some of the world's biggest cosmetic companies, but it is impossible to tell 正確に／まさに which 製品s were developed with 構成要素 from Poole mothers.

However, the Daily Mail has 設立するd that placentas from Poole were used in American 研究 to find a new "anti-ageing" 肌 cream.

In 2005, biochemist Zoltan Kiss 登録（する）d a U.S. 特許 for a 化学製品 構内／化合物 which he （人命などを）奪う，主張するs "回復するs and 持続するs the strength and thickness of ageing 肌".

Professor Kiss says he used Sigma-Aldrich's human alkaline phosphatase in his work.

A Sigma-Aldrich salesman 確認するd that the 化学製品 was "of UK 生物学の origin".

Once a week, a 先頭 makes the four-mile 一連の会議、交渉／完成する trip from Sigma-Aldrich's high-安全 工場／植物 to the hospital to collect up to 70 frozen placentas, all of which have been 配達するd over the previous seven days.

Poole Hospital: It made £5,000 selling placentas

For the company's scientists, the placenta is a rich raw 構成要素 as it 含む／封じ込めるs 特に high levels of proteins and enzymes.

They are able to 抽出する these and turn them into a total of seven 化学製品 構内／化合物s which it 申し込む／申し出s for sale to 研究室／実験室s around the world.

The practice, which has 冷気／寒がらせるing echo es of the Alder Hey 組織／臓器 除去 スキャンダル, led 保守的な MP Nadine Dorries to call for stronger 規則.

"It amazes me that a hospital is doing this - I do not think the 製品s of pregnancy should be bought and sold."

Professor Sibley, of the University of Manchester, said: "The 分子s could be used for 癌 研究, yes, but they could also be used in any sort of 研究.

"The 倫理学 of this, as they are 述べるd to me, appear to be 不十分な."

European 法律制定 禁止（する）s the sale inside Europe of any cosmetic 含む／封じ込めるing human 生物学の elements. But the 法律 does not cover their use in cosmetic 研究.

Sigma-Aldrich 堅固に 否定するs that its human placental byproducts are used in the 製造（する） of any cosmetic 製品s.

But a 広報担当者 譲歩するd the 化学製品s may be used in the 開発 and 実験（する）ing of cosmetics.

Malcolm Shaw, the 会社／堅い's regulatory 事件／事情／状勢s 経営者／支配人, said: "We sell 製品s 純粋に for 研究 and analytical use. However, they could be used in cosmetic 研究."

Yesterday Poole Hospital 主張するd that the £5,000 it received for its placentas was a "寄付" rather than a 支払い（額）, and the money was used to buy 医療の 器具／備品.

A 広報担当者 also pointed out that the mothers had 調印するd a special 同意 form.

However, the form 明言する／公表するs only that the placentas will be used for "研究 into...癌, cystic fibrosis, Parkinson's 病気 and HIV/エイズ".

No について言及する is made of their 可能性のある use in cosmetic 研究 - nor are mothers told that both the hospital and Sigma-Aldrich will 利益（をあげる） from the 貿易（する）.

The hospital said it was unaware the placentas could be used for cosmetic 推論する／理由s.
