研究員s (人命などを)奪う,主張する seances are all in the mind

To 信奉者s, seances are a valued way of communicating with the 'other 味方する'.

Thousands of people a year go to 会合s at which mediums (人命などを)奪う,主張する to make 接触する with the spirits of loved ones who have died.

But the mediums' 力/強力にする is all in the mind of the 関係者s, によれば scientists.

They say even sceptics can become 納得させるd that they are experiencing something mysterious in the 環境 of a seance.

Dr Richard Wiseman, Britain's 主要な paranormal 捜査官/調査官, said: 'The phenomena 報告(する)/憶測d at seances, from the turn of the last century when they first became popular until today, have a normal explanation, in my 見解(をとる). People are very suggestible.'

Dr Wiseman and a team at the University of Hertfordshire 始める,決める up a 一連の 偽の seances at which an actor played the part of a medium.

One hundred volunteers took part in the seances, which were held in darkened rooms and 内密に filmed with infra-red cameras.

The volunteers sat 一連の会議、交渉/完成する a (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する covered with 反対するs, 含むing a 手渡す bell, a tambourine and a ball.

They were asked to link 手渡すs and try to move the 反対するs and levitate the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する with mind 力/強力にする. The actor told them they were doing 井戸/弁護士席 and that the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する was indeed levitating or 反対するs were moving.

Afterwards, the 関係者s were asked if they had experienced anything unusual.

'We were surprised to find that a third 報告(する)/憶測d that the (米)棚上げする/(英)提議する had levitated,' said Dr Wiseman. 'But the camera showed nothing had moved.'

A その上の 35 per cent of people (人命などを)奪う,主張するd to have had other curious sensations during the 偽の seances, such as sensing a presence or a feeling of extreme 冷淡な.

'All these phenomena are associated with 本物の seances,' said Dr Wiseman. 'But these 実験s 示唆する they are of psychological origin - unless the spirits had arrived and we just didn't know about it.'

Around four in ten people who said before the 実験 that they believed in paranormal phenomena said they experienced something unusual.

But surprisingly, so did two in ten sceptics.

'I think we've learned a lot about the psychology of a seance,' 追加するd Dr Wiseman.

'明確に, some of the people that go to them want to believe that the spirits are there.

'As for the sceptics, we can say that in the dark of the seance room you lose your normal points of 言及/関連.

'When someone is telling you that things are happening, some people can be 納得させるd that something strange is happening when it is not.'

Dr Wiseman, who will be 招待するing members of the public to 参加する 偽の seances at London's Science Museum on July 15, said he was not 告発する/非難するing all mediums of 審議する/熟考する 詐欺. Some might have 納得させるd themselves that they had special abilities.
