A 陪審／陪審員団 had just pronounced him 有罪の of 強姦ing and 殺人ing a six-year-old girl so 残酷に that a police officer who worked on the 事例／患者 broke 負かす／撃墜する and wept while giving 証拠, and a seasoned 病理学者 said he had never 遭遇（する）d such ‘壊滅的な’ 傷害s in his entire career.

Yet on Thursday as the schoolboy from the scenic island of Bute rose to be 演説（する）／住所d for 罪，犯罪s 述べるd by 裁判官 Lord Matthews as ‘some of the most evil and wicked’ in the long, grim history of Glasgow High 法廷，裁判所, he looked so nonchalant that he might have been 存在 ticked off by his form-master for failing to 手渡す in his homework.

Aaron Campbell might only be 16 years old but he didn’t flinch or lower his gaze.

There wasn’t even the merest hint of a blush to his 乳の, unshaven cheeks as the 裁判官 述べるd how he had stolen ‘甘い, angelic’ Alesha MacPhail from her bed at dead of night, then carried her to a nearby 支持を得ようと努めるd to be defiled and smothered; an 行為／法令／行動する of such calculated sadism that he might never be 解放する／自由なd fr om 刑務所，拘置所.

Yesterday, however, the Scottish Daily Mail 嘆願（書）d Lord Matthews to 解除する the 禁止（する） and the 裁判官 decided this 事例／患者 was of such exceptional gravity that the public should know his 身元. ‘I cannot think of a 罪，犯罪 in 最近の times that attracted such revulsion,’ he said.

Indeed not, but having 観察するd this chillingly youthful psychopath during the nine-day 裁判，公判, and 調査／捜査するd his background, another young Scotsman comes readily to mind.

Campbell had received anonymity 予定 to his age, over the 殺人 of six-year-old Alesha MacPhail. He （人命などを）奪う，主張するd he had 内密に been having casual sex with the girlfriend of Alesha’s father for many months

With his pallid complexion, fathomless 注目する，もくろむs, 徹底的に捜すd-over 黒人／ボイコット quiff, slender build, and penchant for dressing smartly, in a tartan 控訴 and tie, Campbell 耐えるs an uncanny physical resemblance to Ian Brady, when the Glasgow-born Moors 殺害者 was of a 類似の age.

They 株 many of the same personality traits, too. Campbell’s arrogance and narcissism, and his ability to concoct the most heinous lies and use them to his advantage, with utter 無視（する） for the 損失 they will 原因（となる）, are classic Brady. In 試みる／企てるing to cheat 司法（官）, Campbell （人命などを）奪う，主張するd he had 内密に been having casual sex with the girlfriend of Alesha’s father for many months.

On that hot summer’s night on the 小島 of Bute in July last year, it was she, not he, who had killed the little girl, he 持続するd, 示唆するing she must have tainted Alesha’s 団体／死体 with デオキシリボ核酸 from a condom in an 試みる／企てる to でっちあげる，人を罪に陥れる him.

Then there are their backgrounds. Just like Brady, there are 指示，表示する物s that Campbell was 深く，強烈に 乱すd at an 早期に age, with a penchant for （打撃，刑罰などを）与えるing cruelty became evident during his boyhood, when 隣人s on the 小島 of Bute discovered to their horror that he had stolen cats and skinned them alive before burying them in the garden.

Campbell’s f ascination with this sickening form of entertainment began when he was still an adolescent, and would shut himself in his bedroom with his computer after school.

In one film sequence, this faceless, spidery-四肢d monster stalks little children and drags them off into the woodland. We can but wonder whether Campbell, who carried little Alesha ― just 3ft 9ins and 3st ― along the shoreline on the 小島 of Bute before attacking her in the 支持を得ようと努めるd, 始める，決める out to emulate the Slender Man

After all, this appalling 創造 has 明らかに turned other young minds. In America, in 2004, two 12-year-olds 特記する／引用するd watching ビデオs of this warped internet 創造 as their 動機づけ for horrifically stabbing a schoolgirl.

Campbell also played other 悪名高くも violent games, such as Fortitude, Grand 窃盗 自動車 and Call Of 義務, and 定期的に 地位，任命するd self-indulgent ビデオs of himself on YouTube from 12 years old, using the 脅迫的な 調印する-on Poison3dApp13.

His 開始するing excitement, as he played and watched these terrifying ビデオs are 冷気／寒がらせるing. Commenting on a creepy film of some faceless person 打ち明けるing a 血-streaked door, for example, he can be heard to exclaim the words ‘を刺す’ and ‘shank’.

He was then still in the first year at 第２位 school.

Campbell also developed a fascination for the occult and voodoo which perhaps explains the animals he 拷問d and buried.

提携させるd to all this was his pathetic craving to be noticed. One YouTube ビデオ he 地位，任命するd shows him shirtless, 成し遂げるing somersaults to a 激しく揺する music 支援 跡をつける on the trampolines in his 支援する garden.

But this narcissistic streak has led some members of Ayesha’s family to the belief that he is enjoying his notoriety.

From his 積極性 shouted 返答 ― “Shut the f*** up!” ― it was patently （疑いを）晴らす he was beyond parental 支配（する）／統制する. Islanders portray her as a 井戸／弁護士席-meaning, but doting and 不十分な mother.

Superficially, however, Campbell appeared to have had an advantageous start in life.

Born in May, 2002, he spent his earliest years in Shrewsbury, Shropshire but his family moved to Bute when he was five. 明らかに oblivious to the irony, Mrs Campbell ― bleary-注目する，もくろむd and careworn when I spoke to her at their home last 週末 ― told me they had done so to afford her son a 安全な・保証する しつけ and a good education.

Normal is not the word others would use. The mother of a fellow pupil at Rothesay 学院, where he had just 完全にするd his fifth year exams, says her son thought him ‘weird’. Others used more pejorative words.

Another parent （人命などを）奪う，主張するd Campbell ビデオd himself 乱用ing a teenage girl, and brazenly showed the （映画の）フィート数 to his friends.

やめる why he would have done this when he was popular の中で the girls in his peer-group, and considered as something of a catch, is anyone’s guess.

Unlike many of his friends, who lived on the unprepossessing 広い地所 above Rothesay, Campbell was brought up in a 罰金 Victorian house, on the 沿岸の road out of the town, with 素晴らしい 見解（をとる）s of the firth and the hills beyond. As it had 広範囲にわたる grounds, with trampolines and a gazebo, his friends would congregate there.

He also began drinking ひどく, and on the night he took Alesha had mixed a 瓶／封じ込める of Echo 落ちるs ワイン with a fruity ワイン popular の中で 十代の少年少女s called Mad Dog 2 0/20.

The 裁判，公判 heard that he いつかs bought cannabis from Alesha’s father, Rab MacPhail, who lived just along the road. That Mr MacPhail will have to live with the knowledge that he served as a 麻薬 売買業者 to his daughter’s 殺し屋 is one of the many 悲劇s of this 事例／患者.

Of course, we cannot know how smoking cannabis at a formative 行う／開催する／段階 of his 開発 影響する／感情d Campbell’s 明言する／公表する of mind.

However, from the sort of sick computer games he played, we can hazard a good guess the internet played some part in this horrific 事例／患者.

During the nine-day 裁判，公判, it became （疑いを）晴らす from the 証拠 of his friends that Campbell used such 会議s as Snapchat to 支える his image and try to impress.

A 16-year-old 女性（の） school friend shocked the courtroom with the admission that they had spent months 交流ing Snapchat messages about committing ‘the perfect 殺人’. Campbell 誇るd he would be able to get away with it, given the 権利 ‘計画（する）’.

To the girl, who 認める to 株ing his ‘dark sense of humour’, it was all just a joke.

Yet to Aaron Campbell ― who 誇るd with breath-taking insouciance during these 雑談（する）s that he might kill ‘for the lifetime experience’ ― it must have been thrillingly serious.

We can only wonder what その上の 残虐（行為）s he would have committed, if his mother ― in an 試みる／企てる to （疑いを）晴らす his 指名する, she said ― had not drawn the police’s attention to CCTV （映画の）フィート数 showing his furtive comings and goings from the house in the small hours, when Alesha was taken.

Yesterday, however, this plausible-looking young man ― who will be 宣告，判決d next month ― was 述べるd by a source の近くに to the 事例／患者 as ‘a serial 殺し屋 on his first 殺人’. In other words, another Ian Brady in the making.
