An international student has fractured her spine after a freak skydiving 事故.
University of San Diego student Beatriz Martinez-ツバメ broke her L3 vertebrae after 落ちるing 4,000 metres from a skydive in Auckland, New Zealand.
The 19-year-old was on a tandem jump with an 指導者 when a freak gust of 勝利,勝つd caught their パラシュート(で降下する) as they were coming in to land, throwing the 二人組 into the ground.
'My tandem was 叫び声をあげるing. I could tell she was in a lot of 苦痛,' Ms Martinez-ツバメ told Stuff.

Ms Martinez-ツバメ was 急ぐd to hospital, where doctors 診察するd her 傷害s and were shocked that she wasn't paralysed.
'I had burst my L3. They said it touched my spinal cord so that's why they were all really surprised I wasn't paralysed,' she said.

Since her 外科 she has rarely been in 苦痛, and stood up for the first time after the 出来事/事件 on Friday.
A GoFundMe?page was 始める,決める up for Ms Martinez-ツバメ, requesting $15,000 to help 支払う/賃金 for her 医療の expenses and flights 支援する home to the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs.
The page has raised more than $7,000 for her 回復 基金.
Ms Martinez-ツバメ's 指導者 was also hospitalised in the 落ちる, but was 発射する/解雇するd with minor 傷害s.
After her 事故, Ms Martinez-ツバメ will have to stay in New Zealand for a few more weeks until she is able to 飛行機で行く home, and that's 罰金 by her.
'This is so 広大な/多数の/重要な. I want to move here. Everyone's been really nice,' she said.
