We can create babies without men, (人命などを)奪う,主張する scientists

by BEEZY MARSH, Daily Mail

Fertility specialists have 設立する a way for women to have babies without men.

It 伴う/関わるs a cocktail of 化学製品s 事実上の/代理 as an '人工的な sperm' to trick a human egg into forming an embryo.

The 素晴らしい 発見 has alarmed 医療の 倫理学 選挙運動者s, who 述べるd it as turning nature on its 長,率いる. 研究員s say the groundbreaking 科学(工学)技術 could be used to help women whose husbands are infertile but who do not want to use 寄贈者 sperm.

Any babies born from the 過程 would be 女性(の) and genetically 同一の to their mother.

Taken to its extreme, it could lead to the science fiction nightmare of a 女性(の)-支配するd society where men have little or no 役割.

The news also creates a 合法的な minefield for UK 当局 which 治める/統治する fertility 治療s, because British 法律s do not cover the 創造 of an embryo without sperm.

The 発見 was made by 研究員s from the 学校/設ける for Reproductive 薬/医学 and Genetics in Los Angeles.

They were 調査/捜査するing new ways of genetically 修正するing embryos to grow into brain 神経 独房s, ーするために give 移植(する)s to 患者s with Parkinson's 病気.

Their 実験s with mice 誘発する/引き起こすd a form of asexual reproduction called parthenogenisis, which until now has happened only in creatures such as insects and frogs.

In normal human reproduction, an egg carrying 23 pairs of 染色体s, the building 封鎖するs of life, is fertilised by a sperm, which also carries 23 始める,決めるs.

This 決定的な binding, creating 46 pairs of 染色体s, opens the way for 独房 分割, the very beginning of human life.

But 研究員s Dr Jerry Hall and Dr Yan-Ling Feng managed to make eggs duplicate their own 染色体s to create the number needed to start 独房 分割.

Several embryos were transferred to mouse 'foster mothers' where they developed 首尾よく before 存在 destroyed after 13 days.

Though the 過程 has yet to be 実験(する)d on human eggs, st udies have already shown that they behave in a 類似の way to those of mice. The findings are 予定 to be 明かすd today at the 年次の 会合 of the 尊敬(する)・点d American Society of Reproductive 薬/医学 in Florida.

They have been あられ/賞賛するd as a new way of producing different 肉親,親類d of 独房s for 医療の use.

Dr Michael Soules, 大統領,/社長 of the ASRM, said: 'If this 作品 with human eggs, there could be tremendous 適切な時期s for 臨床の 使用/適用s. I think everyone is going to find this work to be very exciting.'

But Dr Jacqueline Laing, 専門家 in 医療の 倫理学 from London's Guild Hall University, said last night: 'This is alarming. Just because scientists can do something, it does not mean that they should.

'This 過程 does not 尊敬(する)・点 human life, in 捜し出すing either to procreate without the male or to use human eggs to turn them into some other part of the 団体/死体 for 移植(する)s.

'It doesn't 尊敬(する)・点 reproduction and ordinary relations between men and women and the natural 機能(する)/行事s we have to 保護する human 存在s from arbitary 創造. What are we 推定する/予想するing that any children born of this 過程 will feel? If we go 負かす/撃墜する this avenue, what else will be permissible?'

Paul Tully, of the Society for the 保護 of Unborn Children, said: 'Parthenogenisis is akin to cloning in a sense. It is the way lower orders of animals such as frogs and insects are able to 再生する.

'It is 完全に unknown for this to happen in humans and this is a very 乱すing 発見. Apart from the 倫理的な 関心s of what was happening to these embryos without their 同意, it could mean that, theoretically, it would be possible to eradicate men.'

He 追加するd: 'What we are seeing here is the 科学技術の imperative - they are doing it just because they can. Is society going to 抑制(する) this or are we going to see even more outlandish 発見s?

'My 恐れる is that, as with cloning, there will be horrific developmental abnormalities and 加速するd ageing of these embryos. One dread s to think what they may 苦しむ in the 指名する of science.'

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology 当局, which 治める/統治するs IVF 研究 in Britain, said a new 法律 on parthenogenic embryos may be needed.

A 広報担当者 said: 'The 見解(をとる) would probably be that no 研究 could be carried out without 許可 and it certainly would not be licensed for 臨床の use unless it was proven 安全な and there were no 倫理的な 関心s.'
