Dr Abdul Basit, 36, grabbed his partner by the throat and manhandled her during a string of arguments as she tried to adjust to a new life with him in the UK.

The 無名の 犠牲者 - a junior doctor whose father is a renowned 内科医 in Pakistan - was also mocked by her husband about her academic 記録，記録的な／記録する and （刑事）被告 him of 存在 'penny pincher' who would only let her spend £10 a week on lunches.

She was 最初 too 脅すd to tell anyone about her ordeal but police were 警報d in May 2016 after a violent argument between Basit and his wife when they stayed over at her brother's flat in Brighton ahead of 医療の training interviews in London.

The Manchester 審理，公聴会 was told the Basits had married in her native Pakistan in 2015 where she worked as a 研究 assistant and she joined him in the UK in February the に引き続いて year.

'I was trying to save the 関係 and was also worried about what 複雑化s this would have on my 評判 and my family's 評判 支援する home. It seemed to me that I was walking on eggshells the whole time and everything was made to feel like it was my mistake.

'He told me that he did this because he 手配中の，お尋ね者 to break me 負かす／撃墜する sociologically and emotionally but at the same time he did say that he did love me. This wreaked havoc with my brain for ages because I kept making up excuses for his behaviour and I was fearful of him.

'There was an episode where he grabbed my throat while we were sitting on the sofa. He would also 得る，とらえる my neck, squeeze it and then ask: 'how does that feel?' I couldn't understand why he was doing this and he just said: 'I am just seeing what it feels like.' The 恐れる that it put in my heart made it very difficult for me to come out and say any of this to my family or the police.

'There was a l ot of arguments when he 押し進めるd and 押すd me. It was a very abusive controlling 関係 from the start but my father is a very renowned 内科医 and there are a lot of social 圧力 for things to appear in a 確かな way. It would have been やめる a humiliation for my family for this to come out in 法廷，裁判所 that my husband had been 乱用ing me.

'In my first month in the UK I did not have a 職業 and it was an 期待 that he would look after me from a 財政上の 視野 but he was telling me to make do with £10 a week for lunch money. He would make me beg for money.It was humiliating.'

The fight at Dr B's flat in Brighton occurred after he overheard his sister breaking 負かす／撃墜する in 涙／ほころびs as Basit was berating her in their bedroom about her academia. Dr B knocked on the door and his sister fled the room but Basit then challenged him to a fight in the living room.

The two men started jostling with each other before Basit struck his wife as she stood between them.?

He also said he would destroy the careers of both me and my brother if I told police about the 乱用.

'He even asked me to leave my 約束／交戦 （犯罪の）一味 and a pair of earrings and necklace. By then I had stopped eating and talking I could barely breathe in this 環境. I now know that it was an inc redibly 有毒な 関係 and I was in love with an abuser.'

But his lawyer Alan Jenkins said: 'Whilst physical 侵略 could never be 正当化するd, Dr Basit has 明確に 反映するd on what has happened and has 申し込む／申し出d 陳謝s. He has taken steps to remediate by 請け負うing 関連した courses.

'The 不品行／姦通 was 限定するd to the 問題／発行するs within an unhappy marriage, and that whilst remediation and insight are perhaps incomplete, Dr Basit was on his way to 論証するing that he 所有するd insight. He is working in a good useful way as a doctor and this country needs doctors.'

法廷 chairman Mrs Jayne What said: 'Although the doctor's 不品行／姦通 was undoubtedly serious, it is 有能な of remediation and it has been 治療（薬）d in part by the doctor's 肯定的な steps in 請け負うing and …に出席するing courses.

'There has been no repetition of his behaviour since 2016 and he has developed some insight into his behaviour and its 衝撃 upon others. Although Dr Basit's 行為／行う was violent, erasure is disproportionate.'
