起訴 事例／患者 ends in Sarah 裁判，公判

The 事例／患者 against the 申し立てられた／疑わしい 殺し屋 of schoolgirl Sarah Payne finished today with the （人命などを）奪う，主張する that he was the man who "kidnapped, killed and buried" the eight-year-old.

Roy Whiting, 42, said it was "pure coincidence" that a 独房監禁 立ち往生させる of Sarah's hair was 設立する on his red sweatshirt and that dozens of "indistinguishable" fibres from 着せる／賦与するs 設立する in his 先頭 were discovered on items belonging to the schoolgirl.

Timothy Langdale QC, 起訴するing, said that Whiting would have to be an "unfortunate" 犠牲者 of "bad luck" if the nine-インチ hair had become dislodged from another 展示（する） 一括 and 大（公）使館員d to the sweatshirt.

"You would be the most unfortunate man," he said. "It would have been bad luck so far as you are 関心d?

"The 代案／選択肢 is that barring that 驚くべき／特命の／臨時の 事故 it can only mean one thing.

"That one thing is that you were the man who kidnapped the girl, you were the man who killed that child and you were the man who buried her 団体／死体. That is the only other 代案／選択肢 is it not?"

Whiting replied: "It was not me."

Mr Langdale questioned whether it could かもしれない be a coincidence that 22 fibres from five different items 設立する in Whiting's 先頭 were later 設立する on Sarah's shoe, clumps of her hair at the burial 場所／位置 and on the 団体／死体 捕らえる、獲得する used to 回復する her naked 団体／死体 from the scene.

Whiting, 以前は of St Augustine Road, Littlehampton, West Sussex, replied: "It could be coincidence. It is a very ありふれた red sweatshirt. We don't know, in the eight to 12 weeks she had those shoes, what fibres she might have 選ぶd up, or what fibres she 選ぶd up on her 着せる／賦与するs before coming 負かす／撃墜する to Kingston Gorse."

The （刑事）被告, who 否定するs kidnapping and 殺人ing Sarah, was asked if he 苦しむd three fresh scratches 設立する on his chest and 武器 when the eight-year-old was in the 支援する of his 先頭.

Mr Langdale, referring to a curved scratch on Whiting's chest, said: "Was it in fact a 可能性 that you we re not wearing anything on the 最高の，を越す half of your 団体／死体?

"Has it got anything to do with that girl in your 先頭? Has it got anything to do with the fact that she was in the 先頭?"

Whiting, wearing the same red sweatshirt and blue ジーンズs he has worn for most of the 裁判，公判, said: "No, it's got nothing to do with that fact."

On day 14 of the 裁判，公判 at Lewes 栄冠を与える 法廷，裁判所, Mr Langdale questioned why Whiting had failed to make any comment in his last police interview of February 6 when 探偵，刑事s 明らかにする／漏らすd damning 法廷の 証拠 linking him to Sarah's death.

Mr Langdale said to Whiting: "You must have been appalled to discover that you, an 完全に innocent man, 設立する there were fibres linking you to the death of that little girl.

Whiting replied: "No."

When asked about his second 逮捕（する） on July 31 last year - two weeks after Sarah's 団体／死体 was 設立する - Whiting 認める he "should have told" 探偵，刑事s what he was doing on July 1, the day she disappeared.

Mr Langdale asked Whiting: "You were questioned for four-and-a-half hours. Wasn't then the time to perhaps try and 補助装置 the police that you weren't 伴う／関わるd? Circumstances had rather changed.

"This little girl's 団体／死体 had been discovered. Wasn't this the time to help the police and at the very least 除去する you?"

Whiting replied: "I should have, yes."

Mr Langdale: "There is one 平易な way of stopping these questions, wasn't there? Very 平易な, just tell the police the truth."

Whiting: "Yes."

He 主張するd that he was 単に に引き続いて his solicitor's advice to answer "no comment" to the questions.

Mr Langdale: "You were no 疑問 glad to do that as the truth was going to 損失 you, wasn't that the fact?"

Whiting 否定するd that that was the 事例／患者.

When Whiting was first 逮捕（する）d on July 2, he failed to ask an officer who sat with him in his flat what had happened to the girl he was acc used of 誘拐するing.

Mr Langdale said: "You made the point to the police officer that you did not know anything about her going 行方不明の until 'you lot visited earlier'. 'It was not me', is what you said.

"Why, if you were innocent, did you not ask that policeman, who was not badgering you, how that girl went 行方不明の?"

Whiting said: "I did not want to talk to a police officer."

Mr Langdale replied: "You were 説 as little as possible to the police."

Earlier Whiting 否定するd he had changed his 外見 the day after Sarah was snatched from a country 小道／航路 近づく her grandparents' home in Kingston Gorse.

Mr Langdale said Whiting had "cleaned himself up" but he 答える／応じるd: "I had not had a shave or a bath on the Sunday."

The 裁判官 said: "I shall sum up to you on Monday. I can't 約束 to finish but I will do my level best.

"If I send you out on Monday, I will ask you to go to a hotel on Monday night."

The 陪審／陪審員団 passed a 公式文書，認める asking where Sarah's hair was 設立する on the sweatshirt.

Mr 司法（官） Curtis said he would have an answer for them in the morning.
