Three 計画(する)s carrying hundreds of 乗客s 辛うじて 避けるd 災害 when they 行方不明になるd 衝突する/食い違うing with a stepladder which had fallen of the 支援する of a 維持/整備 トラックで運ぶ の上に a 滑走路.

Two 労働者s at Birmingham Airport were making checks on the 滑走路's approach lights at about 9.30pm on September 8 last year.

The stepladder was lying flat on the 滑走路 for 37 minutes before it was retrieved by the airport safety team.

An 調査 by the 空気/公表する 事故s 調査 支店 (AAIB) 述べるd a bungee cord used by the 維持/整備 乗組員s to 持つ/拘留する the ladder in place was 'not suitable'.

The 報告(する)/憶測 said: 'Had the ladder been struck by the main or nose 上陸 gear 直接/まっすぐに on touchdown, it is likely this would 原因(となる) the break-up of the ladder with a high 危険 of 爆発性の tyre burst.

'This would probably have resulted in high energy fragments hitting the 航空機, thus 損失ing the airframe or exposed 攻撃を受けやすい hydraulic and 電気の 構成要素s in the 上陸 gear bays.

'A nose 上陸 gear 衝撃 would introduce the 付加 危険 of a nose gear 崩壊(する) and the ingestion of 破片 into an eng ine.'

The ladder remained in the touch 負かす/撃墜する zone for 航空機 and just eight インチs to the 権利 of the centre line of the 滑走路 for 37 minutes before 存在 retrieved by a safety team.

The 滑走路 was の近くにd for 19 minutes as 安全 checks were carried out and a fourth 計画(する) was ordered to 持つ/拘留する.

A number of safety 改正s were 示唆するd by the AAIB.
