The younger sister of 殺人d MP Jo Cox,?Kim Leadbeater, has been 確認するd as the 労働 候補者 for the 補欠選挙 in Cox's old 選挙区／有権者 of Batley & Spen.

The 44-year-old said she is 'honoured' to stand for the party in her hometown after doing 'a lot of soul-searching' about what's 'best for the place I love'.

The 選挙運動者 and 外交官／大使 for the Jo Cox 創立／基礎, who is also a personal trainer, 確認するd last week that she was putting her hat in the （犯罪の）一味.

This evening it was 発表するd she had been chosen by 労働 members over shortlisted 候補者s?Hugh Goulbourne, a lawyer from Huddersfield, and?Hasnain 旅宿泊所, a 3rd year 医療の student at Sheffield University.

The 補欠選挙 was called after Tracy Brabin was elected as the first 市長 of West Yorkshire on May 9 - meaning she will やめる the ありふれたs.

労働 is now defending a slender 大多数 of 3,525 投票（する）s in a seat it has held since 1997.???

Losing the seat to the 保守的なs would pile その上の 圧力 on 労働 leader Sir Keir Starmer after a poor showing in the 地元の 選挙s.

Ms Leadbeater's sister, Mrs Cox, tragically died after 存在 発射 and stabbed by a far-権利 極端論者 in June 2016, while serving as MP for the 選挙区／有権者.

?At a 会合 of the 地元の 選挙区／有権者 労働 Party, Ms Leadbeater - who was chosen from a shortlist of three - 述べるd herself as a 'proud Yorkshirewoman' who had lived in Batley and Spen all her life.

'I have a 深い understanding of the area, its people and some of the challenges it 直面するs. I feel passionately about the strength there is in such a diverse 選挙区／有権者,' she said.

'I'm the 候補者 the Tories 恐れる. They know that I have a proven 跡をつける 記録，記録的な／記録する of getting things done at a 地元の level and an 設立するd 評判 for working for all parts of the community.

Her 選択 was welcomed by party leader Sir Keir Starmer who said her roots in the community would make her a 'fantastic 支持する／優勝者' for the 選挙区／有権者.??

Sir Keir Starmer tweeted: 'I am delighted that Kim has been selected to stand in the Batley and Spen 補欠選挙.

The leadership will hope that Ms Leadbeater's strong 地元の links and high profile in the area will enable her to see off the challenge of the Tories 代表するd by 物陰／風下d 議員 Ryan Stephenson, the chairman of the West Yorkshire 保守的なs.

Andy Burnham, the 労働 市長 of Greater Manchester, told Twitter 信奉者s he was giving his '十分な support' to Leadbeater.??

Speaking to 投票者s Burnham said: 'She's somebody who's 絶対 rooted in your community. Not a lifetime 政治家，政治屋.?

'Somebody who has been out there in the real world and will be a fantastic 発言する／表明する for?Batley and Spen. But also for 労働 in the north of England.'?

Leadbeater told the Batley and Birstall News that the prospect of the 来たるべき 補欠選挙 for Batley and Spen 'has 影響する／感情d me 深く，強烈に in ways I really hadn't 推定する／予想するd'.

She said: 'I've had to do a lot of soul-searching and thinking about what's best for the place I love.

'I've been moved by how many 地元の people from across the area, many 労働 Party members but others too, have been in touch asking me if I would stand in the 補欠選挙.

'It has knocked me for six.?I would love to 代表する this 驚くべき／特命の／臨時の, vibrant place that I have called home all my life.

'I am touched that so many people seem to think I would do a good 職業 and I can 約束 that if they want me I will give my all for Batley and Spen at Westminster.

'The truth is, I have never really seen myself as a political animal, but I care 深く，強烈に about the area where I was born and have always lived, and where the people are second to 非，不，無.

'This community 選ぶd me up when I needed it most and I will be forever 感謝する.

'Everyone knows I talk a lot, but I also listen a lot. And I've listened to hundreds of people over these last few years. I've heard how disillusioned and 解放する／撤去させるd they are with politics and how worried they are about the 未来 of our towns and villages.

'And I've listened to their ideas about how we can give Batley and Spen an even brighter 未来. I won't pretend to have all the answers, but I will speak up wherever and whenever it takes, so the 発言する／表明する of this 選挙区／有権者 is heard loud and （疑いを）晴らす.

'And if they put their 信用／信任 in me to be their 候補者 then I would be honoured to 代表する them and give the people of Batley & Spen the 適切な時期 to put their 信用 in me.'

'It makes no difference to me who gets that 職業, because Jo is my sister, as long as it is a good person doing that 職業, that's 罰金. I didn't engage with the previous MP, and I didn't want anything to do with politics going 今後, it was Jo that got me into that.

'And that was just Jo doing what Jo did, which was try to help people. But you do 疑問 yourself and think 'maybe I should be the next MP, maybe that is the answer'.

'Thank God you don't make 決定／判定勝ち（する）s when you are so emotionally 攻撃を受けやすい and raw. Because I could have agreed to do anything.

'Thank God you have got the sensibility to think 'I will just sleep on that'.

'I might have got it, and that would have been ridiculous because we had the 裁判，公判 to get through, we had our first Christmas to get through, we had so much to get through.'

The Red 塀で囲む 選挙区／有権者 needs a new MP after Tracy Brabin won the race to become West Yorkshire 市長.

Ms Brabin held the 選挙区／有権者 with a 大多数 of just 3,525 over the Tories in 2019.

But 地元の 選挙 results 示唆する that 労働 will struggle to hang on when it calls the 投票（する） to 取って代わる her. 区 level results put the Tories marginally ahead - although 投票（する）ing habits often 変化させる between 会議 and Westminster contests.?
