The BBC is under 圧力 to order a wider 調査 into what Venables calls 'a culture of journalistic duplicity'.
It comes まっただ中に a slew of ramifications に引き続いて Lord Dyson's bombshell 報告(する)/憶測 last week into Bashir's 'devious' and 'deceitful' tricks to land his interview with Diana in 1995.
After princes William and Harry tore into the BBC for hushing up the deceit of their rogue reporter, former director-general Lord Hall finally fell on his sword, quitting his 地位,任命する as chairman of the 国家の Gallery on Saturday. Yesterday, on a その上の day of 演劇:
- Home 長官 Priti Patel 宣言するd the BBC's 評判 '妥協d' and 警告するd it 直面するs 'very 重要な' 改革(する);
- Bashir broke cover to say sorry but also 布告するd he 'loved' the princess and said it was '不当な' to 非難する him for her death;
- He 解放(する)d 驚くべき/特命の/臨時の 詳細(に述べる)s of their の近くに 社債 ? 含むing Diana turning up at hospital to 持つ/拘留する his newborn third child;
- Prince William dodged a question about Bashir's jaw-dropping 陳謝 during a visit to Scotland;
- A ありふれたs 審議 today is 始める,決める to see MPs call for an end to the licence 料金;
- Channel 4's former 長,率いる of news Dorothy Byrne 勧めるd the BBC and ITV ? where Bashir also worked ? to 'look at all his scoops' まっただ中に (人命などを)奪う,主張するs of 普及した lies;
- Nazir Afzal, the former 長,指導者 検察官,検事 for the North West of England, called for a 犯罪の 調査.
The Mail 明らかにする/漏らすd on Saturday that Diana's brother Earl Spencer has 需要・要求するd Scotland Yard 開始する,打ち上げる a 調査(する) into 申し立てられた/疑わしい ゆすり,恐喝 and 詐欺 at the BBC. The 主要都市の Police said it was '査定する/(税金などを)課すing' it.
Instead of Lord Dyson's excoriating 報告(する)/憶測 製図/抽選 a line under the Bashir スキャンダル, there were 調印するs yesterday of it spinning even その上の out of the 会社/団体's 支配(する)/統制する.
Last night Culture 長官 Oliver Dowden was 勧めるd to 調査/捜査する the 'Venables 事件/事情/状勢' by Tory peer Robert Hayward.
Lord Hayward 需要・要求するd answers about the 'striking similarities' between the Diana and Venables Panoramas.
The Panorama programmes into Venables 関心d (人命などを)奪う,主張するs the England 経営者/支配人 had raised a £1million 株 of 基金s that 救助(する)d Tottenham Hotspur FC while he was the club's 長,指導者 (n)役員/(a)執行力のある through a 'sale and leaseback' 取引,協定.?
A 文書 再生するd on 審査する showed a schedule of 資産s used as collateral, which the programme (人命などを)奪う,主張するd he did not own.
BBC sources have always 主張するd that although the Venables 'mocked up graphic' was not an 初めの 文書, the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) it showed was based on true (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) ? unlike the one Bashir used to 誘惑する Diana, which was 完全に 捏造する,製作するd.
Lord Dyson's 報告(する)/憶測 into the tricks ツバメ Bashir used to get his 1995 Diana interview 含むs a number of 初めの 文書s. の中で them is a confidential 報告(する)/憶測 ? which Tony Hall, then BBC 長,率いる of news and 現在の 事件/事情/状勢s, 用意が出来ている ? into the bank 声明s 偽のd for the Diana programme. In the same 報告(する)/憶測 to director general John Birt in 1996, Hall ? now a peer ? 結論するd the way a graphic for the earlier Terry Venables 文書の was used had been 'wrong' and said the 生産者 had been '厳しく けん責(する),戒告d'. He 拒絶するd other cla ims over the Venables programme, 含むing an 主張 that 'stolen 文書s' had been paid for. The BBC kept the Hall 覚え書き secret and only 解放(する)d it last year after a 13-year freedom of (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) 戦う/戦い. It was the first 証拠 Lord Birt and Lord Hall knew that 悪事を働くこと by Panorama and Bashir pre-時代遅れの the Diana programme. Lord Dyson published a 草案 of the 覚え書き, but redacted the Venables section (above left) - leaving 黒人/ボイコット 署名/調印する covering the BBC's admission it had been 'wrong' (above).
Yesterday a source told the Mail the (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) for the Venables graphic was taken from an 初めの 文書, and that ? unlike with the Diana fiasco ? the 文書の team had sought 公式の/役人 許可 from the BBC to 再建する it in the graphic.
The source said: 'This 文書 was 100 per cent 正確な - and everything was 宣言するd to the BBC in 前進する. There was no duplicity 伴う/関わるd.'
However Venables 論争s this, 説 the 文書 was based on 誤った (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状).
It has also 現れるd that a former BBC (n)役員/(a)執行力のある, Anne Sloman, 認める in the 1990s: '偽のing 文書s had been going on as a general practice.'
And 退役軍人 Panorama reporter Tom Mangold 警告するd he was '確かな there are uglier 発覚s to come about my lying BBC 同僚 and the BBC's cover up'.
After Bashir's two Panorama exposes of Venables, who managed England from 1994 to 1996, the football 経営者/支配人 開始する,打ち上げるd 合法的な 活動/戦闘 against the BBC.
He later withdrew his 事例/患者 in the 直面する of strenuous BBC 否定s, with each 味方する agreeing to 支払う/賃金 their own 合法的な 料金s. But now the 会社/団体 直面するs the prospect of the 'Venables 事件/事情/状勢' 存在 再開するd.
When, in 1996, BBC bosses discovered Bashir's use of (1)偽造する/(2)徐々に進むd bank 声明s in the Diana 事例/患者, they also 診察するd (人命などを)奪う,主張するs 文書s were 'mocked up' in the Venables 調査.
A confidential 報告(する)/憶測 to the BBC board of 知事s from ex-director-general Tony Hall 結論するd the way a Venables graphic was used had been 'wrong', and said the 文書の's 生産者 had been '厳しく けん責(する),戒告d'.
However, Lord Hall 拒絶するd other (人命などを)奪う,主張するs, 含むing an 主張 that 'stolen 文書s' had been paid for and that the graphic was made with '誤った (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状)'.
The BBC kept the Hall 覚え書き secret for 25 years and only 解放(する)d it last year after a 13-year freedom of (警察などへの)密告,告訴(状) 戦う/戦い. It was the first 証拠 that ex-BBC director general Lord Birt, 同様に as Lord Hall, knew that 悪事を働くこと by Panorama and Bashir pre-時代遅れの the Diana programme.The 覚え書き was referred to in Lord Dyson's damning 報告(する)/憶測 published last Thursday.
However, while Lord Dyson published a 草案 of the 覚え書き, he redacted the Venables section in its entirety ? leaving a large 封鎖する of 黒人/ボイコット 署名/調印する covering the BB C's admission it had been 'wrong' to show the Venables graphic in the way it was.
Last night Venables, 78, said: 'Finally to receive the proof that the BBC and Panorama (軍隊を)展開する,配備するd the same 疑わしい 策略 against me is, of course, of some 慰安.
'What is really shocking is that there appeared to have been a culture of journalistic duplicity in the heart of our 国家の 放送者 and I was, perhaps, but one of many 犠牲者s of such doubtful practices.
'The BBC has an 絶対の 義務 to make a clean breast of everything さもなければ how else can we believe their word ever again?'
一方/合間, Lord Hayward, a friend of Venables' solicitor Nick Trainer, wrote to the Culture 長官 to ask for an 調査.
He said: 'Why did the BBC draw the 条件 of 言及/関連 so 辛うじて that Lord Dyson could not 調査/捜査する this 事例/患者? Given the similarities between the two 事例/患者s, eg. 偽の 文書 存在 used, why has the BBC been 決定するd to separate the two programmes?' In his 報告(する)/憶測, Lord Dyson said the Venables 事件/事情/状勢 fell outside his remit.
But he did say the Panorama programme's 生産者, 示す Killick, '堅固に 論争s' the suggestion that his (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限ing of the Venables graphic could be compared to Bashir's (売買)手数料,委託(する)/委員会/権限ing of the 偽の bank 声明s, which he used to 影響 an introduction to Diana 経由で her brother.
Last night a BBC 広報担当者 said: 'When people raise 関心s of this 肉親,親類d about our programmes, of course we look into them.
'The BBC has changed radically over the past 25 years and has 意味ありげに better 過程s and 手続きs in place to 保護する contributors, but we also know that it is important to keep learning.'
They 追加するd: 'The BBC's 編集(者)の 指導基準s have been updated and 強化するd since 1996 and are (疑いを)晴らす about the BBC's 責任/義務 to 確実にする that any 構成要素s used do not distort the meaning of events or 誤って導く audiences.'
