Family fight to save mother in her 50s left brain 損失d and paralysed by Covid as hospital says her life-support 治療 should end

A 裁判官 has been asked to decide whether a woman left brain 損失d and paralysed from the neck 負かす／撃墜する after 契約ing Covid-19 should be 許すd to die.

Mr 司法（官） Hayden is considering 証拠 at an online 裁判，公判, 予定 to end later this week, in the 法廷，裁判所 of 保護, where 裁判官s 監督する 審理，公聴会s centred on adults who 欠如（する） the mental capacity to make 決定／判定勝ち（する）s.

Specialists 扱う／治療するing the woman, in her 50s, at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, say life-support 治療 should end. The woman's children, and sister, 同意しない.

A lawyer 代表するing hospital bosses told Mr 司法（官） Hayden on Tuesday the woman's 事例／患者 appeared to be unique.

Mr 司法（官） Hayden, who is based in the Family 分割 of the High 法廷，裁判所 in London, said it was the first 事例／患者 of its 肉親，親類d.

Mr 司法（官） Hayden said: 'It is the most extreme example of its 肉親，親類d, and it is the first time in the whole of the pandemic that I have been asked to make an end-of-life 決定／判定勝ち（する） in relation to Covid-19.

'It is the first time a 法廷，裁判所 has been asked to consider an end-of-life 事例／患者, as a result of Covid. I 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑う therefore it is a 事例／患者 that will attract a lot of public attention.'

The 裁判官 said the woman could not be identified in マスコミ 報告（する）／憶測s of the 事例／患者. Mr 司法（官） Hayden is 予定 to hear 証拠 from specialists and the woman's 親族s.

He said he would consider 証拠 relating to what the woman would have 手配中の，お尋ね者 同様に as 医療の 証拠.

One specialist told him that the woman's family were in 'daily 拷問'. He said the woman's 事例／患者 had played out in 'just the most horrific way'.

Barrister Katie Gollop QC, who is 代表するing hospital bosses, told the 裁判官 the woman had gone into hospital on an '緊急 basis' late in 2020 and was on a ventilator. She said the woman's 事例／患者 appeared to be 'unique'.

She said the woman was 'almost 完全に paralysed' and had '厳しい' cognitive impairment.

She told the 裁判官: 'There is nothing they can do to make any 面 of her 条件 better.'

Ms Gollop said specialists thought the woman's 未来 would be 'slanted に向かって 苦痛 and 不快'.

She said the woman's family thought some of the 治療 供給するd had been 'negligent'.

Ms Gollop said 親族s thought hospital bosses had made the 法廷，裁判所 of 保護 使用／適用 because they wished to 'cover up' the consequences of that 'negligent 治療'.

The woman was 代表するd by staff from the office of the 公式の／役人 Solicitor, who help 攻撃を受けやすい people embroiled in litigation.

Nageena Khalique QC, who led the woman's 合法的な team, told the 裁判官 the 事例／患者 was 'exceptionally difficult'.

Ms Gollop said 親族s thought hospital bosses had made the 法廷，裁判所 of 保護 (とじ込み／提出する photo) 使用／適用 because they wished to 'cover up' the consequences of that 'negligent 治療'

She said 公式の／役人 Solicitor Sarah 城 had yet to reach a 'final position' as to where the woman's best 利益／興味s lay.

Ms Khalique said the woman had underlying health problems, 含むing 糖尿病. The 裁判官 was also told by a specialist the woman was a 'little overweight'.

Ms Khalique said there was 'no direct 記録，記録的な／記録する' of what the woman would want to happen 'in this 状況／情勢'.

But she said there was 証拠 the woman had a 'strong 宗教的な 有罪の判決'.

Ms Khalique said the woman's family argued she 'would not want to end her life in this way', as it would be 'tantamount to 自殺'.

She continued: '事前の to 存在 認める to hospital with symptoms of Covid-19 (she) was 診断するd as a Type II diabetic.

'She had also been 診断するd with hyperparathyroidism, arthralgia, carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar impaction syndrome and a finding of 胆石s.'
