If running a boatyard in sight of the sea sounds too much of a tall order, what about a tea room on St Mary’s Island in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside?
The 石／投石する cottage beside the tall, white lighthouse ? 閉鎖するd in 1984 ? is for sale at £425,000.
‘I’m sure the 会議 would smile on any 使用／適用 to turn it into a tea room or self-catering accommodation,’ says Erryl McLarty, 63, who has lived in the house with husband Stuart, 64, for most of her life.

‘We opened a tea room ourselves 20 years ago, although it didn’t make much money. But that was before the island became really popular,’ she says.
The lighthouse is now a 訪問者 centre for the island, which attracts ornithologists eager to see rare birds such as eider ducks, blue throats and red-breasted flycatchers.

‘We are also popular with divers because of the 深い water at the 支援する of the island, and fishermen who come for the cod and lobsters,’ says Erryl, whose family has owned the cottage for more than 100 years.
