Should I ski or snowboard?

Until about ten years ago, skiing was the normal thing to do, and there are still more スキーヤーs than snowboarders.

Skiing is more difficult to learn because you have to 支配(する)/統制する two planks on your feet rather than just one.

But it has become a lot easier in 最近の years thanks to 速く 改善するing 科学(工学)技術 - 基本的に skis have got shorter and wider, and are much easier to 支配(する)/統制する and have fun on than they used to be.

And while a few years ago snowboarding was much trendier の中で the younger age group, skiing has now become 冷静な/正味の again - many snowboarders are moving on to skis because of their extra manoeuvrability and the 柔軟性 they give you to move easily all over the mountain.

It is, however, much easier and quicker to しっかり掴む the basics of snowboarding than skiing.

With skiing you are likely to need at least a few weeks on skis to get to a 行う/開催する/段階 where you feel 確信して about trying all the runs on the mountain, 特に the steeper ones or off-piste (click here for a glossary of 条件).

With snowboarding, however, three days is the 普通の/平均(する) time it takes for most people to make the 打開 to 存在 able to link turns comfortably and begin to move around the mountain with 信用/信任.

And many beginners prefer the 慰安 of 比較して 'soft' snowboard boots rather than the hard plastic 爆撃するs that ski boots are made of (although this season sees a new 産む/飼育する of 'soft' ski boots 存在 introduced).

Once you have mastered the basics and become reasonably good, most people who both ski and snowboard say they find skiing more 利益/興味ing - but are keen to do both because you get a 完全に different thrill from each one.
