飛行機で行く another day

When James 社債 takes a 計画（する） in the new 007 movie Die Another Day, it's probably a 安全な bet that he won't be 搭乗 the next easyJet flight out of Luton.

He may be licenced to kill but he's also 明らかに licenced to travel first-class and like any good 愛国者, he chooses to 飛行機で行く the 旗 - British 航空路s is his favourite 航空機による.

In Die Another Day this licence to frill runs as far as a Martini served in a proper Martini glass by an eager flight attendant.

BA has not been slow to capitalise on this plug.

The 航空機による is running a Travel Like 社債 昇進／宣伝 which 含むs the chance to 勝利，勝つ '社債-style' 高級な holidays (a 社債-style holiday 示唆するs a 関係 with a beautiful woman who 結局 tries to kill you, followed by a （警官の）巡回区域，受持ち区域ing from a world-支配するing maniac's henchmen, but the 競争 organisers probably have something else in mind).

In the 現在進行中の 戦う／戦い with its 競争相手s, BA needs all the help it can get, so the support from James 社債 is 井戸／弁護士席-timed.

Even Ryanair's famously feisty 長，指導者 (n)役員／(a)執行力のある, Michael O'Leary, might hesitate at the prospect of 取り組むing 007.

It might seem curious that BA is making 広大な／多数の／重要な play of first-class when few of us are ever likely to take advantage of it (the fare from London to New York, for example, costs £3,330 one-way).

But the glamour of first-class is reckoned to 会談する a 'halo' of 高級な and elegance over the whole BA 製品.

Its TV advertising （選挙などの）運動をする 強調する／ストレスs the no-frills 航空機によるs 供給する a cheap seat but little else. 'We put 顧客 service first and make sure our 乗客s have a 強調する／ストレス-解放する／自由な 旅行,' says marketing director ツバメ George.

The headlong 急ぐ to 予算 travel could have derailed BA, which 歴史的に has made its living at the 十分な-frills end of the market.

Until the arrival of the Boeing 707 and the other big jets in the Fifties, ai rlines 申し込む／申し出d only one class of travel - first - and only the very 豊富な could afford to use it.

Anxious to stop 競争, the 航空機によるs 直す／買収する，八百長をするd fares from the 早期に days and agreed the 基準 of service の中で themselves - and continued doing so until the Seventies when this 空気／公表する cartel was broken up. Old-style 航空機によるs 設立する it difficult to 生き残る in the new 競争の激しい 時代 and many 倍のd.

So it is to BA's credit that it has 天候d September 11 and a 乱打するing from the no-frills 運送／保菌者s and turned in a respectable 利益（をあげる） in its last accounts.

The results have been 達成するd by a programme of staff redundancies while running a long-運ぶ／漁獲高 操作／手術 that keeps the likes of James 社債 happy.

にもかかわらず world 経済的な troubles, there is a growing 需要・要求する for 高級な travel. There are now more than seven million millionaires 世界的な with more than two million in America alone.

空気／公表する travel is one area in which 存在 very rich can 劇的な 改善する the 質 of life.

Ask James 社債 why he isn't saving His Majesty's 政府 hard-earned 税金 歳入 by 主張するing on travelling with Ryanair on his next 使節団.

So if you divvy up your £3,330 for a first-class seat from London to New York, do you get bang - as 社債 might say - for your bucks?

I have to 警告する you that you won't get a Martini in a proper Martini glass. For the 社債 film (and my picture) a special glass had to be brought on board. (And 地雷 had water in it - the picture was taken at 7am. I 推定する Pierce Brosnan was 申し込む／申し出d something stronger.)

You are, however, pampered beyond the dreams of an Arab prince.

Start with the padded leather seat which transforms - at the touch of a button - into a 6ft 6in bed. The seat 支配（する）／統制するs are so 複雑にするd that you get an 指示／教授／教育 sheet.

And the whole seating area is like a roomy, 私的な cubicle - space which on an easyJet flight would probably 融通する a family of six.

The food is unimaginably good - and 利用できる whenever you want it (roasted haddock with brown lentil sauce, chicken tikka masala, bitter chocolate cheesecake with white chocolate sauce, to 指名する a few 選択s). The ワイン 名簿（に載せる）／表（にあげる） is 巨大な and the 質 驚くべき／特命の／臨時の.

You have your own in-flight entertainment system - 現在／一般に 含むing a 30-film ビデオ library featuring old 社債 films.

BA will be the first 航空機による to 審査する Die Another Day next year. And the in-flight amenity 道具 is 事実上 a 妨害する - designed by Anya Hindmarch - of aromatherapy 製品s.

But perhaps best of all, there are just 14 seats in the first-class cabin and two 洗面所s, which means never having to 列 to use the 施設s.
