Every week our Holiday Hero Neil Simpson takes an in-depth look at an important holiday topic, doing all the legwork so you don’t have to. This week: the hidden heroes in our finest hotels.

In hotels across the country, from city-centre 場所／位置s to country house spas, staff are finding 驚くべき／特命の／臨時の ways to help their 地元の communities through the pandemic.

Several celebrity hoteliers won 賞賛する from the start, 含むing former footballers Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs, who gave NHS staff 解放する／自由な use of every room in their two Manchester hotels when lockdown began.

In Cornwall, kitchen staff at The 鉄道 Hotel in Saltash don’t stop at 準備するing food for 貧困の 地元のs. They’ve also 始める，決める up a shopping service for self-孤立するing 隣人s.

Other hotels are 寄付するing items they don’t need while rooms are empty. The Mandeville Hotel in London puts shampoos, conditioners and toothbrushes from guest bedrooms into ‘wellbeing boxes’ for staff at nearby St Mary’s Hospital. 一方／合間, Rockliffe Hall, on the 辛勝する／優位 of the North York Moors, 申し込む／申し出s にわか雨 gels and other goodies from empty rooms to 患者s at Darlington Hosp ital.

Many hotel groups say they will support staff in whatever charitable activities they choose. That led to the Bespoke Group helping staff at Oddfellows Chester and Cotswold House hotels 準備する boxes of 挟むs, scones and cakes so they could serve afternoon tea at care homes.
