SARAH VINE: JK Rowling is an inspiration, an icon and a hero. And while she's been let 負かす／撃墜する by the Harry Potter 星／主役にするs she helped make... the women of Britain are behind her
JK Rowling has chosen her hill to die on, and it’s fair to say it’s becoming more （人が）群がるd by the minute. What used to be an unspoken タブー ? the notion that 生物学の males, with their meat and two veg and their 団体／死体s 形態／調整d by testosterone, are not the same as 生物学の women ? is no longer something that women (or men) are afraid of pointing out, on 苦痛 of 取り消し.
For years now, a powerful, 熱烈な and 声の trans ロビー, led predominately by trans women (for some 推論する／理由 trans men aren’t やめる so 積極的な and 領土の: I wonder why?) has 試みる／企てるd to 課す its 観念的な belief than a human male can become a human 女性（の） as fact, using ? somewhat ironically ? the 策略 伝統的に （軍隊を）展開する，配備するd by male 攻撃者s: 脅迫, 脅しs of 暴力／激しさ, overt misogyny.
JK Rowling published a 一連の tweets yesterday in which she attacked the Scottish 政府's new Hate 罪，犯罪 and Public Order 行為／法令／行動する
What began as a perfectly 合法的 movement designed to fight 支援する against the prejudice 伝統的に experienced by trans people, and 特に trans women, has spiralled into a vicious culture war. In their 決意 to 除去する anyone who stands in their path, 選挙運動者s have trampled over the lives ? and 暮らしs ? of many who have dared to argue with them.
Women like Maya Forstater, a 商売／仕事 熟考する／考慮するs and international 開発 研究員 who was 解雇する／砲火／射撃d for her gender 批判的な 見解（をとる）s and had to fight for years to （疑いを）晴らす her 指名する; Sharron Davies, the former Olympic swimmer who stands up for women’s 権利s in sports; the 新聞記者／雑誌記者 and writer Suzanne Moore, who was hounded out of her 職業 at the scrupulously woke 後見人 newspaper (also somewhat ironically edited by a woman).
And let us not forget the men, such as Graham Linehan, the writer and creator of Father Ted, who was not so much cancelled as obliterated. Even 目だつ trans women such as Caitlyn Jenner and Debbie Hayton who have 発言する／表明するd their 関心s have taken a metaphorical （警官の）巡回区域，受持ち区域ing, （刑事）被告 of 存在 反逆者s to their 肉親，親類d.
Not to について言及する the 残り／休憩（する） of us who, to a greater or lesser extent, have been branded Terfs (trans-排除 過激な feminists) or bigots 単に for 表明するing the slightest batsqueak of 関心 at the way affording trans women open and unfettered 接近 to 株d spaces with 生物学の women (or girls) might 影響する／感情 the 権利s and safety of the latter.
関心 about how, for example, it might 影響する／感情 a young girl if she finds herself 株ing a dressing room with a biologically 損なわれていない teenage male. Or whether, for example, said teenage male’s intenti ons are 完全に 合法的, given what we know about the 願望（する）s of young men. Or how it might feel to be 直面するing a strapping 6ft trans girl 武装した with a big stick on a ホッケー pitch. Or a 犠牲者 of 国内の 乱用 or 性の 強襲，強姦 who suddenly finds herself 株ing a bathroom in 刑務所，拘置所 with someone with a penis who has been 罪人／有罪を宣告するd of 強姦.
Until recently, to raise these questions in even a 非，不，無-accusatory way, tip-toeing through the minefield of trans-認可するd terminology, caveating every syllable with painstaking care, has been fraught with danger. 直面するd with the prospect of 存在 branded transphobic (the 21st century 同等（の） of 存在 （刑事）被告 of witchcraft), many women have understandably decided to just keep their 長，率いるs 負かす／撃墜する and hope it doesn’t happen to them.
But not anymore. JK Rowling has changed all that.
She has, through her courage and （疑いを）晴らす-sighted 決意, fought 支援する in the 直面する of this Orwellian nightmare and, at no small 危険 to herself, stood 会社／堅い in the 直面する of the 猛攻撃. She has spoken out where others could not, and she has used her 発言する／表明する to embolden still more. Without JK, I could not 令状 this column, we could not be having any 肉親，親類d of honest conversation about these 問題／発行するs. She is, in every sense, a trailblazer.

What makes her 姿勢 even more admirable is that she didn’t need to do any of it. 絶縁するd by her (井戸／弁護士席-earned) wealth and fame, she could very easily have taken the path of least 抵抗, lounging on some superyacht somewhere, 安全な in the knowledge that 非，不，無 of these 問題／発行するs were ever going to 影響する／感情 her or her family.
Instead, she chose to stick her neck out and take a stand, and in so doing make herself a 的 of what I can only 述べる as deranged fury on the part of her critics. She has been let 負かす／撃墜する by the very people whose lives and careers she helped foster ? not least Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe, 主要な cast members of the vastly lucrative Harry Potter franchise, whose careers might 井戸／弁護士席 have sunk without a trace were it not for her. She was even 除外するd from a 20th 周年記念日 special in 2022.
On Monday, she took her bravest 姿勢 yet, which was to 率直に (and with characteristic wit, another thing that 運動s her critics spare) 令状 a 一連の tweets in 返答 to the Scottish 政府’s new Hate 罪，犯罪 and Public Order 行為／法令／行動する, which creates a new 罪，犯罪 of ‘stirring up 憎悪’ relating to age, disability, 宗教, 性の orientation, transgender 身元 or 存在 intersex.
Rowling 述べるd several trans women ? 含むing Isla Bryson, a 二塁打 rapist, and Amy George, a butcher who 誘拐するd and sexually 乱用d an 11-year-old girl ? as men and （刑事）被告 the Scottish 政府 of placing ‘higher value on the feelings of men 成し遂げるing their idea of femaleness, however misogynistically or opportunistically, than on the 権利s and freedoms of actual women and girls’, 追加するing that Scottish women are 存在 軍隊d to ‘否定する the 証拠 of their 注目する，もくろむs and ears, repudiate 生物学の facts and embrace a neo-宗教的な 概念 of gender that is unprovable and untestable’. She then challenged the 当局 to 逮捕（する） her.
No one 手配中の，お尋ね者 this fight. The 広大な 大多数 of women ? myself 含むd ? have 絶対 no 反対 どれでも to trans women living in their chosen gender. But when that 権利 to self-表現 begins to impinge on the hard-won 権利s of other women, that is where we all have an 義務 to step in.
By making 批評 of trans or intersex people a hate 罪，犯罪, the Scottish 政府 has 効果的に made it impossible to question the 活動／戦闘s and behaviour of anyone who self-identifies in that way ? 関わりなく their 動機s for doing so. It is 効果的に barring women from 存在 able to 保護する themselves against predatory males ? and 脅すing to throw them in the slammer if they try to do so. It is, やめる literally, insane.
Whether JK’s 反抗 後継するs in changing this new 法律 remains to be seen. As to whether the Scottish 当局 受託する her challenge, yesterday the Scottish police said JK’s 地位，任命するs did not break the new hate 罪，犯罪 法律. I 嫌疑者，容疑者／疑う they’re ‘feart’, as my ex m other-in-法律 would say. But in a way JK has already won her fight. Because 関わりなく the 詳細（に述べる） now, what she has 後継するd in doing is giving women 支援する their 発言する／表明する, which for a time had been stifled. She has not only shown us how to have the courage to stand up for our 権利s, 関わりなく 脅し or 脅迫, but given us 許可 to do so.
In a world where so few people are 用意が出来ている to stand up and be counted, or 危険 their own 慰安 and freedoms for something they believe in, she is an inspiration. What a woman, what an icon ? what a hero. Be in no 疑問, JK, the women of Britain are behind you.
