Americans are SHRINKING: Data shows men and women are up to half an インチ shorter now than they were in the 1980s

Much has been made about America's growing waistline but new 公式の/役人 人物/姿/数字s 最高潮の場面 a lesser-known 問題/発行する: men and women in the US are 縮むing.

Data from the 中心s for 病気 支配(する)/統制する and 予防 (CDC) shows that since around 2000, women have shrunk by nearly half an インチ on 普通の/平均(する), while men are 負かす/撃墜する about a tenth of an インチ.

The '広大な/多数の/重要な shrinkage' appeared to begin with children born in the 1980s ― around the same time obesity started to rise and 急速な/放蕩な food and 高度に-過程d food became more popular.

専門家s believe the 現象 may be tied to bad diets and so many children 存在 obese, which?leads to an earlier puberty and shorter growth spurt.

For the 分析, data was 抽出するd from the 国家の Health Interview 調査する (NHIS) which interviews a 国家的に-代表者/国会議員 group of 87,500 people every year.

It asks them 重要な questions on their 負わせる and 高さ, 同様に as on other factors like profession, income and ethnicity.

The 報告(する)/憶測 含むs data for white adults born up to the year 2000.

On 普通の/平均(する), adult men born between 1995 and 2000 手段d 5ft 10.7in ― compared to 5ft 10.8in for those born two 10年間s earlier between 1980 and 1985.

Adult women born in the 最新の five-year period data was 利用できる 手段d 5ft 4.6in インチs ― compared to 5ft 5in for those born two 10年間s earlier.

Americans' 高さ rose だいたい four インチs over the last 150 years ― driven by 革新s in 薬/医学 such as the advent of 抗生物質s and the arrival of 集まり 生産/産物 and protein 激しい diets.

But data shows that in 最近の years, as food has become いっそう少なく nutritious but more calorie dense, this 傾向 has gone into 逆転する.

分析するing the data, Dr John Komlos, an 経済的なs professor in North Carolina, told the Washington 地位,任命する there was a (疑いを)晴らす link between America's 縮むing 高さ and its obesity 疫病/流行性の.

'Childhood obesity is associated with earlier puberty in both boys and girls', he told the 出版(物), with children that 攻撃する,衝突する puberty earlier having a smaller growth spurt.

Dr Louise Greenspan, a pediatric endocrinologist at Kaiser 永久の San Francisco, agreed ― 説 it was linked to the 衝撃 fat tissue has on the 団体/死体.

He said 存在 larger leads to higher levels of estrogen in the 団体/死体, which can 誘発する/引き起こす puberty earlier. Estrogen can be made by fat 独房s.

'Higher estrogen levels can lead to more 円熟した bones,' he said. 'So your bones grow taller, faster, but then their growth plates fuse earlier.'

This was 特に true for young girls ― who 一般に 攻撃する,衝突する puberty earlier ― he said.

その上の 分析 showed 削減s in 高さ were much 詐欺師 の中で people from more 奪うd 経済的な backgrounds while there was little change in 高さ の中で those from 豊富な backgrounds.

This may be the 事例/患者 because poorer families are eating more 過程d and いっそう少なく nutritious food, 運動ing up obesity 率s and a 削減 in 高さ.

熟考する/考慮するs show children from more 奪うd backgrounds are more likely to be obese.

Other 熟考する/考慮するs have also 最高潮の場面d 拒絶する/低下するs in other 重要な 対策 含むing life 見込み and 井戸/弁護士席-存在 の中で young women.?

Data from the 調査する also looked at the 高さ of 従業員s by 産業.

の中で men, it showed those who worked as policemen, 政治家,政治屋s and sales or 財政/金融 専門家s were the tallest.

At the other end of the 規模, 農業者s, factory 労働者s and cleaners were the shorest.

And for women, 政治家,政治屋s, 芸能人s and 経営者/支配人s were the professions where women were most likely to be tall ― while cleaners were again the shortest.

熟考する/考慮するs show people may choose taller individuals for these professions because they believe a taller individual is more likely to impress 顧客s.

On the other 手渡す, professions with the smallest 労働者s tend to 雇う 移民,移住(する)s ― who grew up on a separate diet to that in the 部隊d 明言する/公表するs.
