I'm a teacher and this is the simple way I can tell if students have used AI to cheat in their essays

With ChatGPT and 妨げる／法廷，弁護士業d both becoming more and more popular, many students are 存在 tempted to use AI chatbots to cheat on their essays.?

But?one teacher has come up with a clever trick dubbed the 'Trojan Horse' to catch them out.?

In a TikTok ビデオ, Daina Petronis, an English language teacher from Toronto, shows how she can easily 位置／汚点／見つけ出す AI essays.?

By putting a hidden 誘発する into her assignments, Ms Petronis tricks the AI into 含むing unusual words which she can quickly find.?

To catch any students using AI to cheat, Ms Petronis uses a technique she calls a 'trojan horse'.

In this TikTok ビデオ, Daina Petronis, under the username mondaysmadeeasy, 株 a simple trick to catch students cheating with AI. Teachers 簡単に need to 追加する a 'trojan horse' 誘発する to the homework description?

Ms Petronis then explains: 'If this essay 誘発する is copied and pasted 直接／まっすぐに into ChatGPT you can just search for your trojan horse when the essay is submitted.'

Since the AI reads all the text in the 誘発する - no 事柄 how 井戸／弁護士席 it is hidden - its 返答s will 含む the 'trojan horse' phrases.

Any essay that has those words in the text is therefore very likely to have been 生成するd by an AI.?

To 確実にする the AI 現実に 含むs the chosen words, Ms Petronis says teachers should 'make sure they are 含むd in quotation 示すs'.??

She also advises that?teachers make sure the selected words are 完全に 関係のない to the 支配する of the essay to 避ける any 混乱.?

The 初めの 誘発する produced 498 words of text on the life and writings of Langston Hughes which was coherent and grammatically 訂正する.

ChatGPT 3.5 also 含むd two 正確な 言及／関連s to 存在するing 調書をとる／予約するs on the topic.

With the 新規加入 of the 'trojan horse' 誘発する, the AI returned a very 類似の essay with the same citations, this time 含むing the word Frankenstein.

ChatGPT 含むd the phrase: 'Like Frankenstein's monster craving 受託 and belonging, Hughes' characters yearn for understanding and empathy.'

The AI bot also failed to 含む the word '白人指導者べったりの東洋人' although the 推論する／理由 for this omission was 不明瞭な.?

In MailOnline's 実験（する）ing, ChatGPT produced a 納得させるing essay in 返答 to Ms Petronis' 誘発する (pictured). With the Trojan horse 含むd, ChatGPT 追加するd one of the two requested words

In the comments on Ms Petronis' ビデオ, TikTok 使用者s 株d both enthusiasm and scepticism for this trick.

One commenter wrote: 'Okay this is 絶対 genius, but I can always tell because my middle schoolers suddenly start 令状ing like Harvard grads.'

Another wrote: 'I just caught my first student using this method (48 still to 示す, there could be more).'?

However, not everyone was 納得させるd that this would catch out any but the laziest cheaters.

One commenter argued: 'This only 作品 if the student doesn't read the essay before turning it in.'

One TikTok 使用者 said that this trick was 'genius' but that they could always 位置／汚点／見つけ出す AI by the 質 of their students' 令状ing?

Another commenter said they had already managed to catch their first cheating student with this technique

Other commenters 表明するd 懐疑心, pointing out that this would only work if the student didn't read through the AI-生成するd essay before submission?

The advice comes as 専門家s 見積（る） that half of all college students have used ChatGPT to cheat, while only a handful are ever caught.?

This has led some teachers to 疑問 whether it is still 価値（がある） setting homework or essays that students can take home.

Staff at Alleyn's School in southeast London in particular were led to rethink their practices after an essay produced by ChatGPT was awarded an A* grade.?
