Lifestyle: To the boathouse
This bijou cottage 近づく Amsterdam is the perfect place for 週末s on the waterfront

The Family: 内部のs stylist Jessica Bouvy, her husband Jaap Mos and their daughters Philipa and Olivia. The 所有物/資産/財産: Jessica and her family spend their 週末s and summer holidays (from April to October) in this 'shoebox' thatched-roof summer house on the Zuidelijke Kievitsbuurt, an idyllic 保護するd island nature reserve on the 国境s of the Loosdrecht lakes, 25 minutes from the centre of Amsterdam.

It is an endless summer of swimming, boating (Jessica bought the sailing boat for the children) and fishing ?
and when the family need 準備/条項s, it’s just a ten-minute ‘ride’ by motorboat (only 許すd for 居住(者)s of the island) to the harbour and then a trip by bike or car to the nearby villages of Breukelen or Maarssen

The ZEF 初期のs are a 遺産/遺物 of the three friends who had the house built in the 1930s. The letters are an abbreviation for zon-en feestdagen (Dutch for 'Sundays and holidays')

Looking through to the open-計画(する) living room and kitchen, the doors are flung open at the 前線 of the house to 許す the warm 微風 to flow through the cottage. On the grass, for seating, Jessica prefers 'old army beds rather than a teak garden 始める,決める - they have character and 機能(する)/行事 井戸/弁護士席'
‘My grandparents used to liveon one of the big lakes here in Holland,’ says Jessica Bouvy, an 航空機による purser and 内部のs stylist. ‘I have wonderful memories of sailing on my grandfather’s 船 to buy ice cream, or we’d hang by a rope behind the boat to swim in the clean, fresh water ? so when I saw this summer house for sale online I was really excited! Houses like these, usually passed from 世代 to 世代, rarely come on the market. I knew it would 供給する us with the ideal escape for 週末s and holidays.’

On one 味方する of the house, Jessica has hung a long 列/漕ぐ/騒動 of hooks from Ikea (ikea.com) and painted them the same colour as the cottage (Farrow & Ball's Tanner's Brown, farrow-ball.com), because 'I'd had enough of all the wet towels and 着せる/賦与するing 投げ上げる/ボディチェックするd around the house and on the 上陸. Now it looks as if they were always there.' The window woodwork is painted in Farrow & Ball's All White
With its secluded waterside 場所, Jessica says renovating the cottage, bought in 2005, was not without its challenges. ‘First we had to find a handyman who wouldn’t mind sailing to work, and the Granito 供給者 wasn’t amused when he saw how little the boat was for 輸送(する)ing the 激しい kitchen 反対する,’ she laughs about the small 列/漕ぐ/騒動ing boat the family uses (with an outboard engine that is only 許すd to go at four knots).
While the 初めの exterior of the house was 比較して untouched, inside it was an ‘ugly’ mish-mash of 1970s smoked glass and plastic 事情に応じて変わる doors 主要な to a gigantic hot-water boiler in the heart of the kitchen. Jessica 除去するd a dividing 塀で囲む between the kitchen, hall and living room and built an 内部の staircase to 接近 the attic, now 変えるd into one large open sleeping area.
The uncluttered mood, にもかかわらず the cottage 存在 ‘shoebox’-sized, is 負かす/撃墜する to Jessica’s knack for clever, 隠すd 貯蔵. ‘Summer houses should be simple, sturdy and practical. Here, it’s like living on a boat,’ she explains of the 事情に応じて変わる doors, 深い drawers under beds, and netting outside the house for 蓄える/店ing fruit and veg, which have all helped to ‘伸び(る) 支援する a lot of space’.
< p> Small kapok-filled mattresses also 倍の out into one large bed ? ‘いつかs we can have 12 kids sleeping 最高の,を越す-to-toe here!’ The pared-支援する colour palette 追加するs to the understated mood, too ? grey and white, with 床に打ち倒すs painted a dark brown are a perfect 背景 to the natural world outside. ‘Grey really 高めるs the colour of the water and the green of the trees.’
Jessica built a small shed on the 味方する of the house to create a family bathroom; there is also an outdoor にわか雨

In the kitchen, a trolley 埋め立てるd from a shoe factory was sandblasted 支援する to its 初めの metal. '現実に, it had been green and it's a pity I had it sandblasted - a little bit of colour would have 追加するd an 利益/興味ing touch here,' says Jessica

The 'tree' coat rack was bought from an Amsterdam caf? when it の近くにd 負かす/撃墜する. Dwell (dwell.co.uk) has 類似の designs

Philipa in the kitchen - the worktop and 沈む are from Granito (for 類似の, see granito.uk.com) and the tap is from Agape (agapedesign.it). A 封鎖する shelf 供給するs 貯蔵 for plates, cups and glasses. For a 類似の colour to the cupboard doors, try Farrow & Ball's Wevet

'Upstairs in the attic you can't stand up, so it's just for sleeping; we spend all our time downstairs and outside,' says Jessica. When the girls' friends come to stay, they lay out lots of mattresses and everyone piles in together.

Olivia outside the old shed at the 支援する of the house, which was 変えるd into a spare bedroom with two bunk beds for guests and a washroom

The extra long beds in the children's room 許す them to sleep 長,率いる to toe, so they can have friends to stay. The bedspreads were made from old army scarves, sewn by one of Jessica's friends. One simple high shelf 供給するs 貯蔵 for 調書をとる/予約するs and toys. 深い underbed 貯蔵 keeps things clean and tidy.

There's no heating - only electricity and running water - during the summer months, so a 支持を得ようと努めるd-燃やすing stove (for 類似の, try Mors?, morso.co.uk) means the family can stay at the cottage from late April to late October. The 床に打ち倒すs are painted in Farrow & Ball's Tanner's Brown. John 吊りくさび (johnlewis.com) has 類似の 倍のing 議長,司会を務めるs
