What new 'fair value' 貯金 率 支配するs will mean for you - SYLVIA MORRIS explains

The clock is ticking for 貯金 providers. They now have just a few weeks left to get their 行為/法令/行動する together and start 申し込む/申し出ing loyal 顧客s a good 取引,協定.

That is because from July, the new いわゆる 消費者 義務 支配するs, which 要求する all 財政上の services 会社/堅いs to 申し込む/申し出 their 顧客s 'fair value', will 適用する to old 貯金 accounts 同様に.

The 規則s were put in place by the 監視者 the 財政上の 行為/行う 当局 (FCA) last July, but 貯金 providers were given a year to 適用する them to old accounts 同様に. But, sadly, I 警告する you this is no time to breathe a sigh of 救済.

In fact, checking your 率 定期的に to make sure you are not losing out will be as important as ever in the run up to ― and after ― the 支配する change.

Rule change: From July, the new so-called Consumer Duty rules, which require all financial services firms to offer their customers 'fair value', will apply to old savings accounts as well

To me, it should mean providers must 支払う/賃金 the same 率 to loyal savers as they do to new ones.?

Wouldn't that make life so much easier? But the FCA says it is not a price 監視する and is not asking providers to do so.

In the run up to the 最終期限, providers are working to change their 製品s or come up with a methodology to show they are 申し込む/申し出ing fair value.?

In the 合間, many providers still 申し込む/申し出 stingy 率s to old 顧客s while giving new ones 広大な/多数の/重要な 取引,協定s.

Some 申し込む/申し出 the same 率s to old and new. But that doesn't mean 顧客s are getting the best 取引,協定s. And surprisingly, in some 事例/患者s, old 顧客s get better 率s than new ones.

See what I mean about having to keep a beady 注目する,もくろむ on your 率s to get a good 取引,協定: there is no 支配する of thumb to 決定する which type of account will 申し込む/申し出 you the best value.

の中で the worst is Virgin Money, which still gets away with 支払う/賃金ing as little as 0.25 per cent to 1.75 per cent on some of its old 平易な-接近 accounts.

If you are unlucky enough to be in one, switch to a better 取引,協定.?

Even if the bank 増加するs the 率s before the new 支配するs on の近くにd accounts come in, they are ありそうもない to 支払う/賃金 最高の,を越す 率s. New savers with the bank in a 類似の account can earn as much as 4.75 per cent.

You might be lucky and find you earn more than the 率 申し込む/申し出d to new savers.

There are 2,000 or more 平易な-接近 accounts now の近くにd to new savers. If you've got one of them, check your 率 now.

Cash Isas have become popular since 利益/興味 率s started to 増加する and this has spurred 競争 の中で providers.
