The losses を強調する costs associated with developing a new bank at a time when 政府 大臣s are 試みる/企てるing to foster 競争 with a host of 政策 対策.

Metro Bank opened its 17th ‘蓄える/店’ in Guildford last month and its 運動-thru bank in Slough opens tomorrow. It 計画(する)s to have 25 by the end of the year ? and it 目的(とする)s to have 200 by 2020.

WHAT NEXT FOR METRO BANK?

When I popped into Metro Bank’s shiny offices in Holborn to have a 雑談(する) with Craig Donaldson last month, I was impressed by his (疑いを)晴らす enthusiasm and love for the brand ? and how he? 計画(する)s to develop it in the 未来.

Craig 本人自身で (ーのために)とっておくs towns a nd 部隊s where Metro ‘蓄える/店s’ ? he prefers to call them 蓄える/店s rather than 支店s ? should go next. The main 焦点(を合わせる) is to 勃発する of the M25 回廊(地帯) and into major 減刑する/通勤するing towns.

He says that if I 選ぶd 50 towns in the London-減刑する/通勤するing area where Metro are 現在/一般に looking at, I would probably 予報する at least 47 正確に ? we’re talking places like Brighton, Cambridge and Southend ? 高度に 居住させるd towns and cities.

We also talked through some of the 過度の red-tape that the bank has to go through to get a new 蓄える/店 opened.

Because it prefers ‘小売’ 蓄える/店 部隊s, and they have to be on a corner, 許可 for change of use has to be 認めるd ? and this can be a drawn-out 過程.

会議s worry that because it is a bank, it will be ‘dead space’ at the 週末s, as 伝統的に banks don’t open. But Metro does.

With 解放する/自由な cash machine 撤退s abroad on its 経常収支, and other helpful services such as coin counting, an in-支店 board to show what 貯金 率s are, safety deposit boxes, 顧客 洗面所s and, above all, a 明言する/公表するd 焦点(を合わせる) on service, Metro Bank seems to be attracting those looking for an 代案/選択肢 to スキャンダル-laden banks.

It remains to be seen if it can keep up this type of growth - and whether it can 得る millions of 経常収支 顧客s needed to be truly considered as 競争 to the banking 巨大(な)s.
