Abseiling in on a beam of light: 素晴らしい pictures show rainbow 影響 in 深い Alabama 洞穴

The amazing photographs appear to show abseilers hanging by a thread as they descend into Stephen's Gap - a 地質学の wonder in Alabama, USA.

Daredevil photographer Amy Hinkle had to be strapped up in safety gear as she balanced on a slippy ledge inside the 洞穴 to 逮捕（する） the images.

Amy, from Chicago, said: 'I have been a caver for over two years and enjoyed photography for much longer. Getting photos in the 地下組織の world is 完全に different, however.

'There is no light but what you bring with you, except 近づく 入り口s, of course, where you get some sunlight.

'I have worked hard to develop techniques to bring light to these pitch-黒人／ボイコット 地下組織の systems without the use of 大規模な 量s of 器具／備品.

Stephen's Gap is a 解答 洞穴, formed by water carving away at the 石灰岩 激しく揺するs ages ago.

As changes slowly occur over a 地質学の timescale, 入り口s may appear by means such as surface 崩壊（する） - when the remaining 激しく揺する can no longer support the surface, like when sinkholes occur - or いつかs where water once entered - becomes a 乾燥した，日照りの streamed that is humanly passable into the 洞穴.

Amy 追加するd: ''I saw a rainbow on my first trip to Stephen's Gap over a year ago, so I knew it occurred, and planned to take some pictures.

'However, I did not 推定する／予想する the rays to be so （疑いを）晴らす and the rainbows so 有望な! The 冷静な／正味の 空気／公表する from the 洞穴 hitting the hot outside 空気／公表する - which was about 35 degrees centigrade - produced that amazing 霧 層 which 分配するd the natural light perfectly.

'洞穴ing can be very dangerous for the unprepared, and most of the people in my 洞穴ing group, who I took the 発射s of, are also members of 洞穴 救助（する） teams.

'There is a 激しく揺する 形式 known as 'the pedestal' 中途の 負かす／撃墜する the rappel. I decided to take a break and 残り／休憩（する） here while I watched the rays and 発射 some photos.

'I was still 大（公）使館員d to a safety line, as the pedestal is slippery? and one would not want to 落ちる off of it!
