A mother's petty argument with her young daughter 原因(となる)d her to 行方不明になる the 破滅的な mudslide, which 衝突,墜落d through the town of Oso, Washington, by mere minutes on Saturday.
Angela Durant, 40, who lives in Darrington, was 長,率いるing to work at the Trafton General 蓄える/店 in Arlington but was 15 minutes late because she was bickering with her nine-year-old, Sarah.
Those precious minutes saved Ms Durant's life. Her 旅行 to work along 主要道路 530 was 削減(する) short Saturday by what she first thought was a logging トラックで運ぶ up ahead, turned sideways and 封鎖するing the road.

As she climbed from her car to take a closer look, she realized it was tree trunks piled high that had been swept 負かす/撃墜する the 山腹 in a sea of mud - and the roof of someone's home was just 明白な と一緒に.
The mother of two told MailOnline today: 'My daughter saved my life. She is the 推論する/理由 that I was not there when that slide 攻撃する,衝突する.'
Ms Durant was one of the first on the scene, and from the other 味方する of the 急ぐing mud, water and 破片, she could see an 年輩の man around 200 feet away, standing by his トラックで運ぶ and waving his 武器 in the 空気/公表する, shouting words to her that she could not hear.

Ms Durant gave the first responders the number of a mailbox - 294925B - which was the only thing left standing in the 破片 to help them 位置を示す the 災害 場所/位置. She said that within three minutes, the 緊急 teams were there.
'I saw what used to be a pump house float by, the roofs of people's homes, a garbage can. There was smoke coming from the pump house; I was worried that it was going to 爆発する while the 救助者s were searching.'

Ms Durant said that on 主要道路 530 where the road should have dipped ahead of her, it was 完全に leveled.
'I cannot 包む my 長,率いる around what's happened,' she said.
Ms Durant, who also has a 16-year-old daughter, Lizzy, was born in Southport, Seattle, but has lived in Darrington for 30 years.
'I've left a couple of times,' she said. 'But something makes me come 支援する - it's the way that people 扱う/治療する each other here. And those mountains.'

He said: 'We do what we can; every day is a learning experience. Everyone knows their neighbors in this town, it’s tightknit, so you do what you can to help.’
