Prized scalp: Tim Bresnan celebrates 解任するing Ricky Ponting

It says everything about the meticulous planning and thoroughness of this England 政権 that Tim Bresnan should be the man who stood up when one more hero was needed for them to 保持する the Ashes.

The Yorkshireman has long had to 競う with 告訴,告発s that he is more of a bits and pieces player or perhaps a one-day specialist rather than a 本物の 前線-line performer in a 実験(する) attack. No-one is 疑問ing him now.

It was always going to be tougher for England to 解任する Australia second time 一連の会議、交渉/完成する at the MCG, not least because the Melbourne wic ket had flattened out to the point where it was の近くに to perfect for batting on the third day.

No 事柄. England seem to have a man, and a 技術, for all occasions these days and after the home 味方する had made a decent start when 直面するd with a mountain of a 赤字 they turned to the Pontefract yeoman to try to 逆転する swing the ball, the 質 that he was preferred to Steven Finn for in this 実験(する).

It worked like a dream. Up until that 行う/開催する/段階, just after tea, the only 打開 England had made as they defended their monster lead of 415 was when Shane Watson ran out his 開始 partner for the second time in this series ? Phil Hughes 存在 the 犠牲者 this time rather than Simon Katich ? with Jonathan Trott again 存在 the sharp fielder in the covers. Then enter Bresnan.

逆転する swing can only be 伸び(る)d when the ball is kept very 乾燥した,日照りの and when the surface is abrasive but David Saker, the England bowling coach who was once the coach of Victoria, knew that this very modern 技術 could be 伸び(る)d at the MCG and that Bresnan was the main man の中で the English seamers who could produce it.

No 賞賛する is high enough for England. They could only 追加する another 69 this morning for the loss of their last five wickets, Jonathan Trott finishing unbeaten on 168, but that took them to 513 and they knew that they had more than two and a half days to bowl Australia out again, flat wicket or not.

Poor old Hughes was finally looking as though he could hang around for a while when Watson, the most unreliable of 走者s, called him for a suicidal 選び出す/独身 and saw Trott’s throw expertly collected in 前線 of the stumps by Matt 事前の, who whipped off the 保釈(金)s in a very modern way to leave Hughes a fraction short of his ground.

And so it was that Bresnan, the fifth choice England seamer at the start of this 小旅行する, stepped up in the biggest match of his life to take the wickets of Shane Watson, Ricky Ponting and マイク Hussey to leave England on the brink of their second innings victory in this tumultuous series.

重要な wicket: Graeme Swann got Michael Clarke out

The make-up of the third day 速く changed. From an attacking start Watson and Ponting, who began the day remarkably trying to defend himself over his show of dissent yesterday, 退却/保養地d into their 爆撃するs, just doing anything they could to keep England out.

They made a pretty good 職業 of it until, with Alastair Cook and Jimmy Anderson seeming to 行為/法令/行動する as 主要な/長/主犯 ball polishers at 中央の-on and 中央の-off, Bresnan made his 批判的な 介入.

Watson, the half century 製造者 who will never be a proper opener until he starts 変えるing his starts into hundreds, played no 一打/打撃 to one that nipped 支援する and was lbw.

Ponting, who must now be thinking that his days as Australian captain are numbered, got an inside 辛勝する/優位 to one that kept a little low and was bowled and then Hussey, whose prolific run in this series has come to a shuddering 停止(させる) in this fourth 実験(する), chipped Bresnan tamely into the covers.

If Ponting really is going to 解雇(する)d or 辞職する then Michael Clarke seems to be the only viable 候補者 to 取って代わる him and, in his 現在の form, that will not 正確に/まさに 奮起させる 信用/信任 の中で home 支持者s.

Here the man who has been such a good player of spin over the years was hesitant and nervous, 存在 (死)刑の執行猶予(をする)d on two when Matt 事前の made his first mistake and fumbled a 決まりきった仕事 stumping before Graeme Swann finally got him caught in the gully when he (機の)カム 一連の会議、交渉/完成する the wicket.

Steve Smith clumped a few in his unorthodox way but when Jimmy Anderson had him bowled off an under-辛勝する/優位 trying yet another pull it really was all over 妨げる/法廷,弁護士業 the shouting.

All is needed are the finishing touches tomorrow and then the Ashes will be 保持するd with a 実験(する) to play.

And that is a lovely 業績/成就 to 熟視する/熟考する.
